Dixon WHISTLE, silver (DX006D)

I really like this whistle! It is better than most. Most of my whistles are played in a rotation (this one today...that one the next time.) But, I keep coming back to this one. Very good quality. Great tone. Tunable. This is well worth the price. FYI, I have alot of whistles. PW

I waited a while to purchase my first Dixon, but now I'm wondering why. I own several whistles, but I'm still a novice who's been looking for one that feels and sounds "right" for my skill level. From the novice perspective, this is probably the nicest sounding of the whistles I own so far, and is probably the easiest (of the ones I own) to hit the fundamental note on. It gets a bit pitchy at the higher end, but not intolerably so. That being said, I love the sound. I love the material. I think I might have found "the one".

I’ve played cheap whistles for many years and never really thought about getting an expensive one. There’s an amazing difference. So much fun to play! Way better sounding!

I bought this to play a solo with one of my orchestras. That means instead of just enjoying playing, I needed whistle that was totally stable and in tune. This little Dixon has a good bit of resistance and was very dependable up to high B. High C# and D require some inventive fingerings, but they are stable too. The intonation is not perfect, but I was able to get everything pretty close to pitch. I'm a flutist so this penny whistle will be played in both orchestras and just for fun.

This whistle is a joy to play. It looks nice too, no tarnishing. Just have to blow the moisture out of from time to time.

Quality instrument. It's easy to play, has nice tone and is in tune. Would make a good upgrade for someone serious about the whistle who only has a cheaper whistle.
