Perfect size

This should be a 5 star review. It is intended to hold fabric in place and flat whilst free motion quilting, it does this beautifully. However, the bag holding the screws (for adding the handles) was split and consequently one of the four screws was missing. Furthermore one of the handles was incompletely bored, the hole for the screw was too small for the absent screw. So why did I keep this item? I kept it because it was too much of an inconvenience to send it back and I can still use it. Amazon simply aren’t set up for requesting a single screw, everything or nothing goes back.

I was skeptic all about buying this, but decided to give it a try. I’ve used a similar device and didn’t really like it and found myself having to go back to the hot gloves ( degrees and gloves -ugh!). I wanted something to help with free motion quilting. Th either night I was FRM and tried this ring. I LOVE IT! I had more control than ever and it gripped the fabric well. The only problems I had were where I’d get close to the edge of the quilt. It does need space. Overall, I will use it every time now. So much more convenient than having to remove gloves for tieing off threads or changing thread or needles. I’m glad I got the smaller of the two hoops. It’s plenty big enough and I don’t think the larger would provide the hold and control I’d want in FRM my quilts.

For all those who FMQ on their home machine, this ring really works very well!!. The cost for this 11" ring is a lot less than what the Sparrow company (from Canada) will charge you and it will arrive in two day on Amazon Prime. You will be amazed at how well it grips the sandwich resulting in beautiful FMQ. I've used it plenty and can tell you how much better my free handed FMQ comes out because of this 11" ring. Do not get the 8" inch, as this is the perfect size for any machine regardless of the harp size. I know its hard to judge a good product by the reviews, but trust me on this one, I do a lot of FMQ on home machine when quilting large bed sized quilts, and this makes the process so much easier and gives way less strain on your hands and fingers. This is one time you can be assured of how good this works without having to test it out.

I bought these 3 months ago and love them. I find that I can relax my shoulders and arms more compared to just using gloves. They give me great control with free motion quilting. My hands don’t get tired either. I bought the set of large and small rings. My sewing machine has a larger throat and an extension table. If you don’t have this I think that the smaller hoop size would be better. I have used both but prefer the larger size

These gripper rings are a game changer for my free motion quilting. I was having the hardest time moving my large quilts around smoothly. To say I was beyond frustrated was an understatement. I came across these rings when doing research. I was impressed by the reviews so I decided to try them out. My free motion quilting is fun again. These rings grip nicely without pulling. I'm able to move my quilt around at any speed allowing me to quilt with more precision and confidence. Moving to the next area of my quilt is super easy, just lift the ring and move it appropriately. Amazon had the best price so that was an added bonus plus if these did not work out...easy return policy.

I haven’t used it yet but it’s very nice. I think the 8” is perfect.
