Logan Graphics 4000 Deluxe Handheld Pull Style Mat Cutter, Silver

My old matte cutter used "extinct" blades (no longer made, and all but impossible to find) so I decided to try this one: Great price, works very well, almost intuitive. Just measure your marks, push down and cut. Anyone with even a little experience in cutting picture mattes should find this tool very easy to use and maintain. Recommended for all skill levels.

I used it by pulling mainly, but also pushing with no issues. It’s easy to use, just watch the tutorial on the manufacturer’s website. The only thing I didnt like that much was the way it holds the pencil lead. It’s too tight and any additional pressure breaks the pencil lead. Unfortunate because it’s a great feature.

A very nice handy tool for matt cutting. Works really good. Smooth cutting, accurate markings on the tool for the cutting. I'd like to get a better cutting matt and system for holding matts in place. But this is a high recommendation tool!!

Please don't let people make you think this is difficult to use. I just matted up my first paintings, and it was very easy. Yes, I had to watch a tutorial first and it does require a little thought. The tool cuts beautifully and is well designed. I love the little pencil in the guide that lets you mark your borders. Brilliant! I purchased the Logan 5000 cutter with the Logan Adapt-a-rule. Seriously, if I can do it, so can you!

Instead of spending $40 to buy a custom size frame, I bought the Logan Graphics 4000 to cut a mat that came with a standardized frame size to make the opening larger to fit a custom size diamond painting image. I watched the 2 minute YouTube video, read the instructions, and did a couple of sample cuts. Worked awesome! Got perfectly straight lines at 45 degree beveled angles and great corners. I am very satisfied with this purchase. Glad I bought this and I can't wait to use it again for my next custom size diamond painting! In the future, this tool will allow me to save a LOT of money that I would have spent on purchasing custom sized frame. Now, I can just cut the mats to make standard frames work!

This product is an exercise in frustration. Do not purchase if you are left handed. I cannot believe the ratings are more than 4 stars. I would give it a negative 4 stars if possible. Everything about it is difficult. Ive thrown away more matting trying to use this tool. Hate it.

I ended up getting a kit with another one included because it had a rail that guided the cutter. I bought this one in the hopes I could use a straight edge for cutting the matte but it didn't work out well at all. I didn't get a clean cut once, but once I used the guide in the kit I got a clean cut most every time. It could be just me but that was my experience so my advice is to spend the money for the kit with a rail guide.

This thing works great. I read the reviews and knew to have a straight edge ready. I also clamped the mat between the straight edge and a board to make sure everything stayed in place. Some of the bad reviews just have me shaking my head now that I've used the tool. A little common sense and a quick look at the instruction video available online is all that is necessary to easily make perfect beveled cuts. Note... This is for cutting 4 ply mat with a 45 degree bevel. If you want to cut 8 ply, they have another tool for that. One bad review mentioned difficulty pulling the cutter while holding the blade down. I suspect they had the blade set too deep. Follow the simple instructions and I promise you'll be glad you purchased this.

Good strong mat cutter. I like the robustness and the fact that the depth of cut can be adjusted. The cutter can also be used to mark margins before cutting which is a real bonus. Best I've used.
