Just what I was after
I wasn't looking for a rig for serious steel welding - read my review accordingly. I was looking to fuse some heavy-gauge (10ga) non-ferrous metal beyond the capacity of my usual propane-air torch. They might generate high enough temperatures, but the metal sucked the heat away from the joint too fast for fusion. This does the job just fine. I had been having trouble finishing the ends of 10ga wire work. The usual findings weren't cutting it, the shapes are too uneven to make fabricated findings work well, and I'm just not nuts about using glue in these things - a nice, solid cold join like a rivet give me more sense of commanding the craft, but would have been difficult to apply, if even possible. A fused end seemed ideal, and a light-duty oxy-gas rig seemed like the tool of choice. Early results are all good. And, compared to the Smith Little Torch (a different tool for different jobs), the tank caddy is a Caddy, compared to the Smith's Volkswagen. That said, I have to agree with some of the negative reviews. Yes, the disposable oxy tanks have limited working life (and high price), but don't blame this tool Yes, the oxy valve is fussy: I turn and turn and turn and get nothing, then all of a sudden, way too much. A little practice with it and a light touch will get the result you want. Yes, it's not easy to screw the oxy tank onto the valve, but I think I was fighting the first release of pressure when the valve got into the tank ahead of the tank and valve threads engaging. And one more thing, not the tool's fault; You must light up the fuel before turning on the oxy, as with any torch. But it takes a while turning the oxy valve to get it going, and the fuel burns sooty, throwing threads of carbon into the air until the oxy kicks in. I have a tight workspace with limited ventilation, but I also have an air cleaner. When I fire up this torch, the air cleaner's schmutz sensor pegs and the fan goes into overdrive. If you have otherwise good ventilation and some tolerance for a little dirt, I envy you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend adding an air cleaner to your shopping cart, if not for your lungs and cleaning chores, then for whoever shares your work and living space. -- wiredweird

Perfect, exceeded my expectations.
I’m not trying to be judgmental but I feel like the people that have given it bad reviews are not very experienced with brazing (I am not either). But if you know how to solder copper pipe it is very similar. I replaced the compressor in my home freezer and MAP gas would not give enough heat to the joints by the compressor because it acted as a heat sink. This torch, with the proper settings, was more than enough needed. I am very glad I did not re-invest in an oxy-acetylene set. This did the job perfectly. One tank of oxygen is more than enough to do at least 8 brazing joints.

Qwuerky
This comes without gas cylinders which is disappointing for the price, I read all the complaints and bought it anyway because I was looking for this particular one. Yes it's qwuerky but works great, u can turn the oxygen valve on and start the reverse threads then turn valve back off when started. I start the mapp gas first and adjust it way down and light it,barely turn oxygen on, it is extremely sensitive just learn it's behavior, there are simpler ones out ther.

Not bad but one suggestion.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This seems to work well for minor cutting jobs. The unit is compact and easy to carry around. My only complaint is the directions for its use are printed on the box and not on a paper insert. That means if I want to keep the instructions for the device either I keep the box or cut the back of the box off and keep a big chunk of cardboard which does not fold or store easily.

This is a miniature gas welding kit, just like the professional five-foot welding outfits
This kit is designed to use small cylinders of oxygen and gas, with a mixer valve to be able to solder, braze and even weld and cut steal, depending on the size of the flame selected. It is similar to using gas welding outfits that use the four-foot tall cylinders. The holder for the cylinders is solid steal and very sturdy. The cylinders can be purchased Amazon or at many hardware stores.

Tanks not included.. this was very confusing in the product description, and had a picture of them as if it was included. Very expensive product if we take into consideration the quality and the lack of tanks..

Worked surprisingly well for a more bugrt friendly set up. The igniter broke on the first use but other than that it is a pretty good choice for automotive repair needs.
