Winnie’s New Friends
I didn’t realize how short this book was but I enjoyed reading about a time in the 60s that was so memorable. There were more white people like Winnie who fought for equal rights alongside their black friends. Growing up in Roselle NJ, I had equal amounts of black and white friends. The hardships of blacks have always been hard for me to even fathom that many whites could be so cruel and judgmental. We have come a long way but there is still lots to be done.

Good read
this book was simple story about a young girl named Winnie, who learns about the reality of her world through a week of friendship. it's a short and moderately easy read, but it's message can be observed by any age.

Good condition
Great read especially for learning about life from another’s perspective even if it is fictional. Love me some Judy Blume!

Good book for teens.
I like this book. I read this book when I was a teen and it helped me understand many things in my teen life so I felt this would help my daughter. She likes the booK and stayed engaged.

Good read
For a child's book, the subject matter was handled rather non-complicated and explains the social disorder of that time in the 60s well. I recommend this book for adults as well as reading it with a younger child.

Ok, perhaps we will bring this book back when my child is a little older. 7 is too young. We loved Fudge, and I have a very competent reader, but this book was far too adult themed for her! I would say too adult for anyone who is not a teen!

Although it is set in the 60's and tackles U.S. race relations it is relevant and makes a child aware of how life was before integration. Suitable for age 10+.

The Garbers (black people) are being racially discriminated by their neighbours. If this book were written by a black author, then I think the Garbers would be a bit more imaginative and less... finicky, because the truth is that the ga
