I had taken it out of the box when it arrived and realized that I didn’t have too many options as to where it would best sit. I
Shamefully, I received the iBolt iPro2 about month ago and have just now got around to trying it out for the first time this week. I had taken it out of the box when it arrived and realized that I didn’t have too many options as to where it would best sit. I have a Toyota 4-Runner and the dash and cab of this vehicle is rather compact. So far I have used the suction cup on the windshield and it held in place very well. I made sure to tighten the tightening ring well to not have it come loose or the phone move from the position I set it to while driving, which, it did not. The only issue I have with using the suction cup on the windshield is it doesn’t allow me to shade my windshield when I park, being that I live in So Cal and the sun here is usually always out during the days. Therefore, I will need to pick a suitable place for me to dock this unit on the dashboard where it will then become its permanent place to be. Once in the dock it was very solid and did not bounce about which is saying plenty for the iPhone 6 is a decent size. The camera is unobstructed in case you want to use it while it in the dock. It swivels so that you may have the phone vertical or horizontal. My iPhone 6 wears the Commuters series case made by Otter and it fits well in the dock. The dust cover needs to be open in order to connect on the dock. My daughter has the Otter Defender case and it also fits well in this dock. My neighbor has the iPhone 6 with a Mofie extended battery case which WILL NOT fit into the dock. (He was interested in this dock and we tried it out.) It takes me two hands to place the iPhone 6 in the dock and two to remove it for the need to disconnect it from the aux port at the bottom and worry that I may damage it. Overall, it seems to work great and I feel I made a good choice.

Best iPhone car mount out there
Does just what it says! The double-sided tape (high quality 3M) holds it solid. I don’t touch the cord to plug in for CarPlay or charging. All you do is slide your phone in amd make sure the integrated lighting cable is lined up and connected and you’re of to the races. Absolutely love it, one handed docking, no fumbling around for cords Comes with mounting screws too, I mounted mine horizontally, so I am not positive the 3M tape would hold up if you mounted it vertically (requires some pressure to insert the phone), but I had the same mount installed with the screws in my last vehicle, my mechanic charged me less than $20 I think. Buy this!

Good while it lasted - has serious design flaw
I got the iBolt back in August 2016. It worked well and I had no complaints for about a year, until the top latch broke off. I was able to stick it back in place and it did a decent job of holding the phone in place, until it got very loose again a few months ago. My phone wobbled so much that I tried reattaching the latch with superglue, but that didn't work. The design of the latch is flawed, as it should be much thicker and reinforced to withstand wear and tear longer. Pros: - Integrated lightning cable is a huge plus; it still works and outlasted the flimsy latch - The adjustable arm and adjustable cradle work well and endured constant use Cons: - The top latch is flimsy and will eventually break - it's just a matter of time - You can't really insert your phone with one hand, which can be a pain when you're in a hurry Bottom line, I do not recommend this product since it broke sooner than it should have (ideally, it wouldn't break at all). As a replacement, I bought the Kenu Airbase Pro. So far, it seems to be sturdier and should last longer. While it isn't as adjustable and does not come with a Lightning cable, I was able to repurpose the cable from the iBolt and the new setup performs even better since I can insert and remove my phone with just one hand.

Nice dock best I found needs some mods to be 5 stars.
Nice dock works great with my Sewell direct monk wallet case (amazon) and it's magnetic removable iphone holder. Why 4 stars. Placing your iPhone onto the Ibolt dock is very very easy, removing it is not. You take your phone in one hand and use it to lift up spring loaded arm on top. After aligning it on the Lightning connector just let it slide down into place. Removing it requires more force causing the whole dock to follow your movement up, most of the time I have to use a 2nd hand to get the phone off. When I use one hand I feel like I will break the dock (I have not it seems well made) and worries me so I use 2 hands. Plus dock gets misaligned requiring you to readjust it before putting phone in again. Ibolt could fix this by changing the Lightning cable holder to tilt. This would allow you to lift and pull on the top of the phone past the arm and easily remove the phone. This is the best dock I have found that charges your iPhone in the cradle.

Works Well After a Learning Curve
I bought this after my son-in-law got side swiped by a semi-truck that crossed into his lane and just kept going. The suction attachment works well with a clean windshield. The integrated charging cable is a good idea but would be best if it would plug into a USB-C port. My old car had low power USB-A ports (0.5a) and when filming, the battery would run down so I bought a cigarette lighter charger with higher amperage. My new car has a USB-A port at 2.5 amps and the USB-C port is 3.0 amps. The USB-C adapter would be better if you want to increase the charge on the phone in addition to recording your drive but it maintains it's charge with the USB-A port. It took a while for me to figure out that I had to push the phone onto the lightning plug. It looked like it was in the phone but did not charge until I gave it the extra push. Getting the phone out off the lightning adapter is a two handed procedure.

There are some people saying this doesn't fit the iPhone 6/6 plus in other reviews around Amazon. It does. There are also some who seem to struggle using one hand to fit their phone, not sure why. It may require having a functioning brain to use it correctly, but the spring loaded clamp at the top can be adjusted to fit. On the back there are two locking clips. If they are released, the clamp can be moved up or down to accommodate the larger phones. Don't forget that this is a spring loaded clamp, so don't set it too high or it won't grip your phone. Also, when putting your phone into the dock if you have no case on it, push the top of your phone against the clamp at the back, then jump it forward a couple of notches before lifting the clamp and fitting the phone. This will ensure it sits straight onto the connector, and not at an angle(which will require two hands to push it onto the connector, and strain it). If you have a case, you may need to have it sitting right against the back (Otter Box or other chunky case), or just one notch forward for slimmer cases. This is after all a universal dock, allowing the use of your phone with nearly any sized case. All in all I think this is one of the best conceived and produced docks I've seen (and I've had a few over the years). Once set up to the correct position for your device, it is easy to fit and remove the phone with one hand (you just need to use your brain to start with, but once you've got it sitting in the right place, and you know where it fits best, it's easy), unless you're trying to do it while ripping along and 100mph, then you're just an idiot anyway.

This does a good job of securely holding my iPhone 6 in it's Apple case. It also looks good when I haven't put the phone in it. Why only four stars? Putting the phone in or out of the cradle is a little fiddly and takes two hands. I've had other cradles before (for an iPhone 4 and for a 5) where doing this was much smoother and you only needed the one hand.
