Revolutionize Brake Maintenance: Phoenix V-12, the One-Person Bleeder Kit
I recently purchased the Phoenix Systems (2003-B) V-12 Reverse Brake & Clutch Bleeder Kit as part of a full brake booster/master cylinder replacement. In general, this will revolutionize my vehicle maintenance routine in the long term as it truly allows a single person to bleed the system of those pesky air bubbles. No more "pump, pump, pump... hold" directives to your annoyed spouse or child! As someone who takes pride in performing my own repairs and maintenance, finding tools that are efficient and effective is critical. This kit fits the bill perfectly, making brake and clutch bleeding a straightforward, one-person job. What stands out about this kit is its reverse bleeding technology. This feature ensures that air is pushed out of the brake lines from the bottom up, which is the most effective way to remove trapped air and prevent spongy brakes. The difference in brake responsiveness after using this kit is night and day. Knowing I'm achieving a professional-level bleed with minimal effort is reassuring. The quality of the components is top-notch. Each piece feels durable and well-made, designed to withstand regular use without compromising performance. The hard case is a thoughtful touch, keeping all the parts organized and protected, which is essential for someone who likes to keep their tools in working order. What I appreciate most about the V-12 Reverse Brake & Clutch Bleeder Kit is its versatility. It is incredibly convenient to be able to work on a wide range of vehicles without needing additional tools or assistance. This kit saves time and money, considering the cost of professional servicing. This tool was critical to getting this repair done in a pinch and saving over $1,000. Even for standard maintenance, it pays for itself in the first use. The last time my dealer bled the brakes on my wife's SUV - the total was over $310. Using the kit is surprisingly simple, thanks to clear instructions and a user-friendly design. Phoenix Systems has put a lot of thought into making this kit accessible to DIY enthusiasts without sacrificing the quality of the bleed. The efficiency of being able to bleed the brakes or clutch by myself, without the hassle of coordinating with a second person, cannot be overstated. In conclusion, the Phoenix Systems (2003-B) V-12 Reverse Brake & Clutch Bleeder Kit is an outstanding addition to any DIY mechanic's arsenal. Its efficiency, quality, and ease of use make it worth the investment. Whether you're an experienced mechanic or just starting to take vehicle maintenance into your own hands, this kit will not disappoint. I recommend this for anyone looking to streamline their brake maintenance process and achieve professional results.

It's possible to push air in through the threads of the blender
It worked great after I figured out what was going on

Junk, save your money
Seriously save your money, this thing is a gimmicky piece of garbage. 1st off almost the entire thing is thing blow molded plastic. The only metal and strongest point is the spring for the handle. The case that it comes in isn’t wrapped, sealed or anything. It’s super cheap like a case that comes with generic tools. Harbor freight tool cases are higher quality. This handle on this thing is almost impossible to squeeze. The piston/ plunger whatever it’s called just constantly binds up and gets stuck. If you do manage to squeeze the handle, it won’t retract by itself. You’ll need to hand to reopen it, then that force causes the break fluid to bubble. The tips of the hoses are pretty much sewing needle sized in diameter, so when you do get the fluid out, it shoots out at the speed of sound in a very tight solid stream, it can probably pierce your skin. This fast hard stream is not good for break fluid, it just creates more bubbles. The price for this contraption is absolutely ridiculous, even if it worked it would only be worth maybe $30. Mityvac is $50 and does a lot more than this. Save your money, if you want to do a reverse fill, buy a 500ml syringe with a hose here for around $10, fill the hose and syringe with fluid, make sure there’s no bubbles and fill your system. I will say the adapters are decent and their hoses don’t leak as much fluid out as a typical hose we generally use. The little boots that go on the bleeder is fairly hard and hold onto the bleeder better than a typical rubber boot. Yeah, this thing is definitely being returned. A huge waste of time and money.

Technically works
This does work, first off. It does exactly what it claims to do. It just does it in a really messy way that I don't think really saves you any time once you're done cleaning up your mess. I like it for certain applications though. I was hoping I could reverse bleed the clutch in my Ranger, however the way the bleeder screw is designed you can't get anything on there with a good seal. A few months later I overheated my brakes and this worked really well for that. I was by myself and I wanted to ensure I got all the old fluid out. So I pumped, then used a syringe to empty the reservoir, and kept doing this until the black fluid was gone and all I got out was clear. I liked using this kit in this instance because I was able to work alone without worrying about getting air into the lines. After using it the first time and creating a huge mess, before getting started I put down absorbent mats. Using those, or a blanket/tarp is essential when using this kit. All in all, it does work and the quality is good. Some people broke the gun I noticed. If you take your time I don't see that being an issue to be honest. My only complaint is the cost, I don't think it's worth it. If you are thinking about getting this, I might suggest getting the cheaper version, although I think the plastic used to construct the gun might be different. If this kit was closer to a hundred bucks I could give it more stars, but as-is I think this tool is just okay.

Phoenix System Works!!!
Just used the Phoenix yesterday to flush brake fluid on a Lexus(an expensive proposition at the dealer) and it worked great. It made flushing and bleeeding the system a one person job. I first vacumm flushed and then did an RFI to remove air from the system. It was much easier than I though it would be and I subsequently cleaned the system with denatured alcohol as recommended by Phoenix. This instrument will make your life easier and save you money via the DIY route.

Certainly the best way to get rid of the trapped air.
Reverse bleeding is a great idea. This had lots of adapters included so we found one that worked for a clutch slave. The pump action was very hard and kind of awkward. we finally used a pump tank like a garden sprayer which was easier to pump.

Thought this sounded like a great piece of kit. Arrived and after thoroughly reading instructions attempted to prime the pump. Pump lever appeared jammed. Took two hands to shift it, somewhat jerkily. Then the lever failed to return to allow further pump. After much strain managed to prime the pump. Used a lot of fluid in the process. Then used it on the car. Force required on pump ridiculous and still the lever would not recover by itself to pump again. Filled in online form to Phoenix explaining my problem. Followed up by 2 calls to them. Answerphone each time and left a clear message with call back numbers. Never heard from them! So decided to return the faulty item. Awaiting a refund. Back to the old way of brake bleeding. I could not possibly recommend this product or the non existent customer service!

I see many reviews here saying the following things: -the pump comes stuck from factory. That's correct. - work is very messy. Yeah. Can be! -tool feels cheap on handle or quality. Well it feels good enough. - it creat more air than anything! Well. If you haven't discovered how to operate, it might. Now I'll get into details how to fix these issies before 'brake' it. As a professional mechanic I use this tool basically every day on multiple cars/brands and my own car. It's been about 4 months now. Never had an abs or related issue. Does it really manage to bleed the system in a way that makes the pedal fell very rigid and responsive? In most cases, yes. This tool resquires constant maintenance, right out of the box, due to its desing. For me, now days it works pretty much flawless, because I'm constantly maintaining. So right out of the box - Even before you try to do the first pumping. - do as follow: You have to lube the piston's o'ring(instruction can be found on they're website, if you need). Just remove the transparent barrel by rotanting. Lube the o'ring and the cilinder wall. I use and recomend silicone paste. It's neutral and doesn't react with the brake fluid. (do not use petroleum based stuff, as it might damaged the o'ring). To prime the pump: The manual says to prime the pump straight back to the return line into the same providade bottle. I don't recomend that. It leads to more air bubbles inside the fluid. Get the bottle full of fluid, place it on the floor in a way it won't tilt, get another reservour and put it sufficiently high so the whole pump stays vertical. Sometimes its quite hard to get rid of all bubbles inside the tube, cause they can stick to the side walls. Give it some finger taps to where they are as you pump it. Just re-fill the bottle as it gets to 1/4. Bleeding on the car: Here there is a catch, and they don't tell in the manual. 1stp, you open the bleeder nipple. Let the fluid come out until you see no more bubbles coming out, only fluid. 2stp - assuming you have already primed the pump- with the nipple open, you place your pump hose right under the lip of the nipple, as you squeeze the pump, you fit the hose on the nipple. 3stp Now to pump, I highly recomend you to face the pump up side down. This will avoid any possibility of air injection, because the bubbles will be trapped inside the highest point of the piston chamber, away from the injection nozzle. As you stroke, try to be smoth and constant. Fluid agitation can creat bubbles. Be slow and smoth specially when you're about to release the trigger, a rapid retraction will cause air bubbles to be generated due to low pressure spot. 4 stp. After you've done your few pumps, before closing it, remove the line and allow the bleeder to leak fluid out until you see no bubbles coming out (which you shall not see any). Maintainance: As you fell the trigger is getting heavy or stuck, remove barrel, lube o'ring and the white cloth ring with silicone paste, assemble back. If you're using the pre-filter, also use compressed air to clean the filter. These steps will guarantee your tool to keep working as inteded. If you don't wamt this kind of obligation, then I would not recomend for you. Hope this helps everyone.
