Silsila [VHS]

The portrayal of a true love story, or was it, Between Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha. A gripping romantic and emotional film that was ahead of its time, like Kabhi Kabhie was in 1975. This was the last pairing of Amitabh and Rekha, for reasons not truthfully known but it was sad to see such a great rapport come to an end. Supporting cast like Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar were a bonus but full credit goes to Jaya Bachchan for agreeing to come back into films and that to such a film that was a reflection of reality. Another enjoyable Bollywood Flick from Yash Chopra. The songs were beautifully written, composed and sung. Overall a personal favourite of mine and also to mention, This was when Amitabh was at the top, Smart and extremely handsome.

I remember this movie as a kid but on revisiting it as an adult I came to appreciate it even more. A stunning cast of actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Badhuri, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Shashi Kapoor and Devan Verma all giving excellent performances and the amazing music, dialogue and stunning cinematography, this is an epic drama of scale, very moving, and romantic, with a feel-good ending. If you're a fan of Indian cinema, this is a must see movie.

Bad performances, bad story. Standard "sahara" needing, helpless woman male saviour Bollywood fare. Unwatchable.

Brought up in Singapore as a child and used to go to my next door neighbours to watch all the black and white Indian films Loved this DVD and one of my favourite actors Amitabh Bachan!

With the undertones of the real-life affairs of the actors brimming away under the surface and some wonderful characters, this film rates as one of Bollywood's all-time bests. Amitabh turns in a great performance on top, and often despite his legendary charisma. He and Rekha are the obvious stars, but every character in this film is utterly believable. Marriage on the rocks, obligation, true love - good old Indian melodrama. But brilliantly done. Thank you Mrs. Bachchan for your bravery in making this film. It's only work from the heart that can be as good as this.

I believe that this movie is one of its kind when it comes to Romantic Genre in Hindi Cinema. A kind of taboo including a bit of loving someone else and marrying someone else. This movie was a groundbreaking and a topic never touched before in Bollywood. Amitabh and Rekha perform at their very best. If you are really after a good movie than watch this...

The film is a classic. The DVD I received was in a perfect condition. Also excellent music by Shiv Hari.

Wer sich diesen Film kauft liebt sicher indische Filme, und wer "Kabhi Kabhie" liebt wird auch diesen Film mögen. Die göttliche Rekha ist wie immer eine Augenweide, der junge Bachchan schon ein besonderer Typ - ja und Jaya ein wenig verkniffen wie gewohnt. Man sollte nicht vergessen - bei all diesem sentimentalen Geschwurbel - dass der Film für Inder gedreht wurde. Mir hat er gefallen.

Silsila is a classic bollywood movie that involved the concept of infidelity in indian marriages. It was rumored that Amitabachan and Rekha actually had an affair in real life and this movie sort of alluded to that notion. The bollywood songs are quite awesome. This movie copy was uncut, clear, and was of excellent quality. If you plan on purchasing this particular movie, this is a copy i recommend.

This movie is a gem of Hindi cinema and the extraordinary chemistry between Amitabh and Rekha has already entered movie folklore.Watching such movies, make one feelsorry for the present generation who are fed up with the lilipoot Khans who look like second rate comedians at the best. SILSILA remains a landmark in Hindi cinema and enabled Amitabh Bacchan to create an inter generational appeal.The present Blu ray is good, after all in India we hardly find the attitude to please the audience truly.
