Yale Anti-Snap 3 Star Euro Thumbturn Cylinder, High Security, Brass Finish, 35:35 (70 mm)

before purchasing, I wasn't sure if this would be worth the higher purchase price, however, on receiving & fitting it, I'm glad I spent the extra. Nice quality including the 3 supplied keys. The thumb turn on the inside has a large knob and is great for elderly residents, these are the later type which don't stop the key opening from the outside, if the thumb turn is used inside.

Strange that to fit it you need to feed it from the outside rather than inside, as otherwise, there are balls that prevent installation. It doesn't tell you in the box or instructions! Fortunately, I got a video on YT that explained this (not from Yale I have to say!) then it was a quick and happy install. This is the only thumb screw 3 star cylinder than can be used with the Nuki Smart Lock as the thumb turn is very slim whilst all other cylinders have bulky ones. I was able to modify (drill and break off the hard plastic) the Nuki mount so this would fit and saved myself some money - Nuki Ultion cylinder £75 vs Yale 3 star £23. Very happy with this cylinder and has worked perfectly with the Nuki.

Read some of the reviews about this lock, mostly positive with a few negative reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway as it was the same lock as the one I was replacing, however after 2 months of use it has given up, locking us out the house, the thumb turn works however the key does not, the key goes into the lock but will not turn. I tried taking the barrel out of the door itself to see if it was the door restricting the turning on the mechanism, however it was not so I will now have to replace the lock again… AVOID THIS LOCK it may have a good security rating but all the means is you will have to pay a fortune to get back into your house when this lock fails.

Nuki smart lock needed a replacement cylinder that can with with a key on the inside and outside at the same time. I was having a hard time finding one so thought I’d go with a thumb turn to be safe. This has the bonus that the nuki fits over the thumb turn without needing an adapter (although they’ll send you one free if you prefer). Installed and works really well can can still open it from the outside with a key if needed

If I pay £50 for a lock and the keys (all 3) do not work, then there is something seriously wrong here! I've ordered a replacement of exactly the same thing, so hope that the replacement will work. The cost to me in time and transport is extremely annoying.
