Once the caliper clicks should the jaws stay in place when removed from the skin? I can get a reading but the jaws return to original position once released.

Since it is a unibody plastic caliper, the jaws will pop back to original position when released so you will have to take a reading while the jaws are in place. Also, as the caliper is used over time, the elasticity of the plastic will most likely change so it will have to be replaced for accurate readings.

How can this be accurate? since i have barely any fat in that area, but tons on my thighs and hips, would it even reflect my bf% accurately?

No don’t buy it. If you have health insurance you can contact your primary care physician and set up an appt to see a doctor who has the fat calipers and have it done that way. You can also ask for a BMI test which is done in water and is the most accurate. This plastic tool was a waste of time. Also some gyms have a body fat caliper that is electronic that they will let you use you simply have to ask. Save your money. I wish I had.

Is this the Accu-measure 3000 ?

Not exactly sure. I looked at the calipers and at the accompanying chart and couldn't find a model number. When I looked up the Accu-measure 3000, it looked like the caliper I have.

I'm consistently getting overly flattering readings (7-9 mm) at every site. my bf is more like 20%, not 12%. anyone else suspect a tension issue?
