Worth every dime!
Super simple installation! Batteries are installed and ready to use. And boy does this little alarm pack a punch for loudness! Wow!! I purchased this alarm for a sense of more security. I live on the ground floor of an apartment complex and transients are always walking thru the area sleeping under bushes, awnings, and for me, I had one sleeping on my patio. You can only imagine the fright I felt opening my curtains to that situation. I do have an aluminum pole in my slider door, but the alarm just gives me that added sense of security. Its on 90% of the time and my kids now know they just can't open the door without the alarm going off. ( It is placed high enough so little hands can't reach it). I feel it is quite effective and for what I paid well worth the added peace of mind. I bought the pack of 2 for just under $21, and passed the 2nd one on to my neighbor with children!

Who Let the Dogs Out?
My car was broken into in March and the steering column was tampered with in an attempt to steal the car. The man who tried the theft looked up at our cameras as he walked up our driveway, right under a bedroom window, and took only seconds to break into the car. Our dogs never made a sound, and so we heard nothing. It was all caught on our neighbor's cameras and our neighbors also heard nothing as their two dogs never barked either These dogs bark at kids walking by, motorcycles, school buses going down the street, and birds if they chatter loudly, but they slept through the breaking in. I felt unsafe and unable to sleep. I ordered these alarms in the hopes it would keep someone from entering our home or, at the very least, alert us by making the dogs bark! We also have a young child who visits our home from time to time and a pool, this child can run like the wind so an adult is always nearby, so this alarm would give us a heads up before he even gets the door open. It is loud. I know everyone leaving a review says it is loud, so believe it. They are very loud. The alarms can be installed in a minute and work perfectly if you line them up correctly. The adhesive strips stick very well on metal and vinyl. Mine has been turned on and off several times a day and the adhesive has not given way at all. They are simple to turn on and off, so I set them every night before I go to sleep. I dread someone in the house forgetting to slide the button down to turn them off before they try to open the door or bedroom windows because I jump out of my skin. About those dogs; mine dogs go insane from the chime and the alarm sounds. One of them is an escape artist or should I say, he was. He used to push a screen door open and let himself out into a fenced in yard but now he dreads setting off the alarm and waits for the alarm to be turned off. If anyone sets it off by accident we have an immediate three ring circus of noise, bedlam. I think the noise factor between the alarm and the dogs will certainly be a deterrent for would be thieves, and probably scare off univited company as well.

These seem to work fine, but aren't perfect.
Just purchased this five-pack of window and door alarms to replace a few of the ones that I currently have on my windows at home. One thing that isn't mentioned on the website, is that you will need an eyeglass screwdriver in order to loosen the battery cover, to remove the packing around the batteries. This tiny screwdriver will also be needed to remove the battery cover when the time comes to replace the LR44 batteries. Negatives: 1) Only four of the five alarms worked out of the box. I'm assuming that the fifth needed fresh batteries. I still kept the set. 2) I've been using a different brand of window security alarms for years. They were easier to mount due to the sensor (the more narrow piece) having enough surface area to stick securely to the window. The GE sensors are very narrow, and don't seem to stick as well as I would have liked. That said, I've always used double sided velcro tape (instead of the sticky tape that the sensors come with). The double sided velcro tape seems to secure the alarm and sensor to the window more securely, and after a few weeks, seem to be working just fine with the GE sensors. And FYI: double faced velcro tape is available at Dollar Tree, and comes with more than enough in order to mount the five alarms and sensors. Positives: 1) The alarm on the GE units is very loud. 2) These seem to be of a better quality than others that are on the market. FYI: I'm providing this review as a purchaser of this item, and am NOT being compensated for my review.

HUGE little GADGET... EXCELLENT CHOICE!!!!
Product Review: This tiny gadget carry’s a BIG PUNCH! Don’t let the size fool ya! It definitely gets the job done, as I have a huge place and can not hear the back garage door, open from downstairs. ITS LOUD! I love that I can turn it off & on if I need to, otherwise it’s loud enough to annoy you if the door has to open/close too much. It’s only a few days old, so I’m not quite sure about the battery life yet. Also, the photos make it look like a perfect and easy installation & it’s is! However the photos make the two pieces appear to be leveled and flush with the door/window frame. We all know doors & DOOR FRAMES aren’t flush for practicality (especially in newer homes). So your mount may not look like the AMAZON photos (realistically) BUT IT WILL WORK... If you’re like me, once you open the package, with the small two pieces & double sided tape... it’s self explanatory, THUS ENTER THE DOOR FRAME LOL. ”MY” mount is not even nor is it flush, but it works. As long as your arrows line up (on the 2 pieces) & they are clearly marked; you’re good. You have about 1/2 inch of wiggle room to make sure door opens & the magnet mount makes contact with the device mount. I had to do it 3 times because I wanted it too appear even & pleasing on the eyes. God help me LOL. Amazon Customer Service: The original order tracking was marked delivered in mailbox per my USPS carrier. However it wasn’t there. I had no idea what happened. I called Amazon. They replaced it the next day with NO HASSLE, simply on my word. To me, that’s worth mentioning! Turns out it was delivered to the model home in my subdivision. I found it & it’s on its way back to AMAZON! This was an EXCELLENT transaction! I’m pleased with the product, SUPER IMPRESSED with Amazon CS & learned my USPS carrier isn’t that bright, but I’ll give him/her time as the area is new. Thanks for reading.

Small, Light, Loud, and Convenient!
I purchased these alarms for my parents' bedroom door; my father's memory isn't what it used to be and Mom was being kept up at night worrying about his wandering while she was asleep. So far I've only used one unit, but tested both and they work well. The "main" alarm sound is quite loud and I was concerned it would be too frightening if it went off unexpectedly (and requires someone to find the tiny on/off switch to silence it), so the unit I'm using is set for the "chime" sound; it's plenty loud without being obnoxious or frightening, and it's nice that it simply chimes and then is quiet again until the door is closed -- which also automatically re-arms the alarm for the next time the door opens. I had some concerns about mounting the alarm on the bedroom door because the frame has some fluting carved into it and there's a definite gap between the top of the door and the frame. However, I found a spot close to the hinge side of the door where door & frame lined up nicely, and even with nearly 1/4" space between the alarm and its magnet there have been no problems. The one negative is that I had assumed some form of double-sided tape or hook-and-loop fastener was included, but the package contains only the two alarm units (batteries ARE included) & instructions. I used a long, thin piece of tape to attach the magnet to the door frame and two small pieces of tape on the back of the alarm to attach it to the door and so far all is well. I had to get a little creative with the shape of the tape for the magnet because there was so little flat area on the door frame, and used 2 small bits of tape for the alarm box because I didn't want to cover the sticker with instructions for replacing the batteries. (It uses a stack of small "button" batteries, included.) Both the alarm & magnet are so light that very little tape is needed to hold them in place. Both my parents have commented that this little alarm is working without a glitch, and were relieved to learn they didn't need to worry about having to find the tiny on/off switch in the wee hours of the morning if it's kept on the "chime" setting. Even better, it's one less worry to keep Mom awake at night, so we're all happy with the product.

120 DECIBELS - OMG!
We bought a fancy new front door that is so nice, I can no longer hear when it opens and closes. I went in search of a gadget that would set off a nice, sweet, chirpy, non-intrusive little "beep, beep, beep" when someone opened the door. (We had an alarm system in a previous house that had a nice chirpy-beep on the door) The GE Personal Security Window/Door Alarm "Includes two 120-decibel window/door alarms for peace of mind" - LOL - Yep, I missed that when reading the description. I was focused on finding a quality product that would not go off at random times, like in the middle of the night. According to other reviewers, this product fits that bill perfectly. However, when I opened the package, and turned on the chime switch, and separated the magnetic catch, I was greeted by the full 120 piercing decibel shriek. In case any of you are not aware, 120 decibels is right at the auditory pain threshold. So surprised was I, that I dropped the dang thing, which sent two cats tearing up the stairs and nearly left me standing in a puddle of my own pee. (I didn't actually pee.) After a string of expletives, I attempted to shove both cotton and foam down into the channel hoping to deaden the sound - nope. Wrapped it in foam and tape - no joy. So, rather than subject myself to Gitmo-like torture every time someone opens the door, I think I'll just go "old school" and find a pretty brass bell to hang on the door. If you are severely hearing impaired and need an alert- this is the product for you. If you are not hearing impaired, you are likely to become hearing impaired if you have use the chime feature - especially if you have a busy home. (It is not 3 sweet chirps.it's one long loud heinous beep) ;) This is not the alarm/alert to let you know your toddler has opened the door!
