Works Perfectly, 4G Internet Users - Read Here!!!
Firstly, really easy next day delivery from Amazon as per the usual standard. The TP Link Deco devices were purchased not only to help boost the wifi signal around the house for a couple of deadspots, but to provide a better wireless signal generally. In January 2019 we decided to get rid of conventional broadband and fibre solutions and move to 4G home broadband. We purchased a TP-Link MR6400 4G Router and a 12 month sim only Unlimited data from Three. Initially we were super impressed with the speeds and the reliability of Mobile Internet as a home solution. We were excluded from any phone line issues that people in our street still tackled with standard broadband providers, or issues with the lines direct to older houses. We live in a good area for broadband generally with a steady 30mbs download, however the further away you are from the FTTB (Fibre to the box) the worse your internet was, we were these people im afraid and usually got a consistent 15-20mbs. However we noticed after a few months, speeds were slow, ping response from the 4G box was rubbish. Initially doing some reboots of the box resolved some issues, but not all. We have recently just moved to EE unlimited sim only data plan hoping we would see a dramatic difference, to no avail. Albeit inconsistent due to the 4g Router issues, the speed is faster with EE at up to 90mbps. So i came to the conclusion that the 4G Router must have an internal issue that effects the wifi signal it sends out, effecting the speed. I purchased these and as previously mentioned above, they arrived in great time. The box is well packaged and the product itself seems a good standard. Plug and play standards meaning i simply unboxed, power lead and ethernet into the back of my 4G router and hey presto. Download the iOS or Android app and go through the simple step by step instructions. Renamed the Deco to the name of my already implemented wifi (Dans Fibre), and all my devices previously linked to the router that was called (Dans Fibre) just linked to the Deco. (This also saves alot of time not going through all those devices you have and pairing to a new wifi name with a new password) 10 minutes and my first deco was out the box and receiving 4G EE mobile data and sending it out to the house. Signal and ping speeds were massively better, however i needed to route into the 4G Router 192.168.1.1 and turn off the wireless which then allowed the Deco to be the only wireless signal we could see. Which proved my theory right about the box having an internal issue. Ping speeds were back down to a healthy response instead of the randomly fluctuating 200ms 178ms etc. Im happy with low 30ms ping speed. Continuing with my setup i placed another one upstairs and paired via the app, bang fast reliable internet upstairs. These really are simple to use, and albeit i know my way round most computer technology, im definitely not a network guy, but seriously these were an absolute breeze, and have temporarily fixed my internal wifi issues. I will still need a replacement 4G router, but that will only make things better. For what these are designed to do, they do a fantastic job. It boosts the signal around the house really well, and the intelligent switching between Deco units to provide the best signal is great. Ive only scratched the surface with some basic use, but i like some of the built in features within the app that let you prioritise device bandwith and speed, and parental controls, guest networks etc. Its great to see who is using what also including who is using all the bandwith downloading netflix 24/7. If you have home broadband or a 4G solution, this will work just fine. My situation may be different to yours for use, it may be the same. But i couldnt find any reviews that related to using in a 4G Environment. I hope this review helps other would be 4G Solution people. Roll On 5G!!!

10/10
This mesh WiFi system is excellent. Setup was very easy and only took a few minutes. Everything worked straight away with no hassle. Once it’s set up, you don’t need to manage it at all. It pretty much runs itself, which is great if you don’t want to mess around with settings. WiFi is strong and stable all around the house. Overall, a brilliant system that does exactly what it should. Reliable, simple, and stress-free. Highly recommended.

***UPDATED REVIEW***Great mesh coverage — but beware the 100 Mbps Ethernet cap
***UPDATE AFTER 3 MONTHS OF USAGE*** TP-Link Mesh Extender was such a colossal disappointment I felt compelled to warn others. The WiFi constantly drops off without warning – not just on one device, but across everything in the house. It defeats the entire purpose of a mesh system, which is supposed to offer seamless, reliable coverage. The range is laughably poor. Even standing just one room away from the extender results in pitiful signal strength and slower-than-dial-up speeds. And before anyone suggests it – yes, I placed the units exactly as recommended by TP-Link’s own setup guides. The problem is, those “recommended” spots are completely impractical (like halfway up the stairs or in the middle of hallways) and still don’t deliver anything close to advertised performance. TP-Link touts impressive speeds and “whole-home coverage” – but what you actually get is a glitchy, frustrating, underpowered system that feels like it was rushed to market without proper testing. You’re better off using your mobile data. Awful product. Waste of money. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. ***DISREGARD THE BELOW REVIEW*** - I HAVE HAD THESE FOR 3 MONTHS NOW SO THE REVIEW ABOVE IS UPDATED. I bought these Deco E4 units to improve WiFi coverage across my home, and they do a great job in that regard. Setup is simple via the app, and the mesh system works well for seamless roaming between rooms. Signal strength is strong, even across multiple floors. However, there’s a major limitation you should know about: the Ethernet ports on the E4 units are only 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet). This means if you use one of these units as your main router (connected to your modem), your internet speed will be capped at around 100 Mbps — even if your actual broadband is much faster. The good news is, I solved this by replacing the main unit with a Deco M4 (which has Gigabit ports). Once I made the M4 the primary router and used the E4s as satellites, my speeds jumped dramatically, and the whole system worked flawlessly. ✅ Great value for mesh coverage ⚠️ But make sure your main unit has Gigabit Ethernet ports if you want full-speed internet Ideal if you’re pairing with other Deco models — just don’t expect fast speeds if you’re relying on the E4 alone as your main node.

Compare mesh v ap, mesh worked best for me
I have 1gb fibre broadband, but unfortunately they placed my router at the front of the house (modem and router separate) I recently purchased a ubiquiti u7 access point and placed it in the center of a 3 floor home Originally worked great but noticed there was a lot of dead zones for wifi I then looked into replacing it with this product and so far it is great, quick and easy setup, however it wouldn't work directly off the modem so it does need to be connected to the router WiFi is never guaranteed speeds but I'm safe to say that I'm getting great download and upload speeds, and because it comes with 3 units, all 3 floors are fully covered This product has fixed all the dead zone issues I've had before and great value

I have not had any issues with this mesh since initial set up. The set up is easy to follow and straight forward. I did have a minor issue, but that was on my end and my service provider was able to give me the correct information needed to set up. It has been running now for about 4 months and we have had steady connection across all devices - computers, TVs, gaming systems, smart home and surveillance systems. The back room that was often a dead zone now gets a good strong signal. I like that I am able to hard wire certain devices into each unit if I want to. We currently have the main home computer connected to the second unit, and the Xbox and smart TV on the third unit. Not that any of these devices were experiencing any lag or connection issues on wifi. It also has the option to set specific devices to priority on wifi or to set a device to only connect to one unit rather than the mesh to maintain a steady connection on items that are stationary. The parental controls are also a great feature. You do need to pay to unlock everything, but the free features are enough for my needs. It allows to filter content, block websites, and set up screen limits. The only inconvenience on the free side is that you cant set multiple time limits for differentdays of the week. While I can set a bed time daily, if I want to give extra time on the weekend I do need to manually reset it every week. However, it is not a big deal with the app. Wifi to all devices you set to your child's profile will be turned off at the time you set, and not turn back on until a time you set. Bedtime routines have gotten smoother as they quickly learned there is no "just a minute". They now take note of the time and hurry to finish, save their progress and say goodbye to friends before the time runs out.

I'm an IT geek / software developer for a living. I know all about how this stuff works and I wanted fast, but I didn't need crazy expensive for my home and some of these mesh systems are way overpriced IMHO. Reality is you can have all the latest crazy standards but once you get 20ft from the access point all bets are off and you'll never see the speeds you see quoted so you need to mix practical with price. There seem to be sooo many mesh system options these days, that I was overwhelmed, but after some consideration I thought I would just go for this one which seemed reasonably priced, but still offered most of the latest standards (and thus speed limits) and also had free returns! In this case this config with 2 slave units was great for my ~4500 sq ft house, my previous single access point left some dead spots (like my Ring outside the house) just outside the range. But with this setup I can blanket the house and get pretty good speeds (>100-200Mb throughput) just about everywhere, and faster (400+ when you are reasonably close / line of sight to the access point) It's important to remember when thinking about laying these out in your house what and where you need the speed. If you need speed inside your house (say you are always streaming movies from a pc to another device) or if you need speed from a device to the internet. The slave access points can only provide as much throughput back to the main access point (which is probably directly plugged into your router/internet) as good as their own wireless connection is to EACH OTHER. eg: if you put the slave access points 50ft away they might "only" be able to get like 20Mb back to the internet, as your devices is going from device -> slave access point ->* main access point (next to your router/internet) and the * connection is the weak link. What was the killer feature for me on these is you can actually use ethernet as a backbone for the slave access points. My house is pre-wired with ethernet so I was able to put the slave access points pretty far but every slave is hardwired back to the main access point and thus has 100% of the throughput back to the internet so no matter which access point you connect to in the house each access point is as fast as the main one so the access point to access point speed drop is a non-issue if you can set it up like this. DO THIS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! It's like having 3 "full speed" access points strategically dropped through your house. It wasn't obvious I could do this from the (very basic) docs for setup that came with it, but a quick search through the online docs showed you could this and it's brain dead, just plug your home network into the port on the back. Extra bonus feature, you can use the 2nd port on the back as a local hardwired port so if you have a single PC or "device" (like an xbox or something) next to the access point you can still plug it in directly and get full hard-wired speed without needing to buy an extra switch in the middle. Note: If you don't use the 1st port for the backbone, then you get 2 ports for local devices that will get at least Access Point -> Access Point speeds without one more wifi hop needed. I was pretty impressed with the iPhone app that you use to manage the setup, gone are the days of a webbrowser hitting a super slow admin page, the app is snappy and you can tweak all kinds of stuff. (favorite feature: One of the access points ended up in a kids room and they complained about the LED at night, guess what, turns out there's a "night mode" where it turns off the LED's during a timewindow in the settings pages!) The "mesh" part works really good too, from the app you can see your device move from access point to access point and what devices are on which and stuff. Super handy for initial setup troubleshooting and geeking out over how it's all working. I will admit, I was a little nervous since TP-Link is sort of a more bargain brand in my head, but I've had it going for about 8 weeks now in my house and it's been basically flawless. I'm sold, I'd TOTALLY buy this again or recommend it to a friend (or anyone reading this)!
