Great product
Absolutely love these. Easy to install and extremely sturdy. Can’t find anything close to this in stores.

Great well made product.
This is a must-have tool. Very clever and well-thought-out design. It worked perfectly for cutting the opening for a light fixture and made the job quick and clean. The plastic guide pieces are especially smart—I only wish it were possible to order those separately and reuse the saw, because that would make this even better. Overall, this is a great product and absolutely worth it. Highly recommend.

Solid 4-gang box. Perfect for stud mount.
Perfectly placed mounting screws. Deep box, plenty of room for everything 4 circuits would need. Correct, industry standard hole sizes for receptacles/switches. Thick material.

Don't let it ruin your 8mm socket!
Was a bit hard to install because the screws have a hard time going into the stud and the angle is quite difficult. The screws and bolts are made of very hard metal that is resistant to stripping. I ended up using a 8mm hex socket to try and tighten the screws and it ruined my hex socket. Had to borrow a friend's 8mm and it started stripping that socket too!! Not happy about that, but overall it works well, very sturdy plastic that is holding up my ceiling fan.

Fan rated beefiness
These are amazing for knpcking out old bakelite round boxes and replacing them with something beefier. Much beefier. Super easy to install with impact. Everythings gotta be fan rated these days

Perfect replacement for old work
I had an existing old plastic box shatter and needed a replacement that could fit within the existing hole in the ceiling. This box was excellent quality, the screws were a little difficult to drill into the joist but the end result was excellent. No trimming of the existing hole was necessary.

These are the best for old work.
I have been a commercial electrician for many years doing mostly large commercial jobs (Hotels, Cell store conversions from grocery stores, etc.). I am now an estimator but do a lot of electrical for family, church, and inspect commercial jobs for the construction company that I work for. Southwire was picked up by Lowes several years ago and they had some problems with defective products that were recalled (mostly digital meters/testers). Well Lowes got rid of them and went with Klein and Home Depot greatly reduced their Klein and now have Milwaukee. That being said, you wonder how such a great box came from Southwire! Well, Southwire bought Madision Electrical and now if you look up that 2 gang box under Madison....it looks EXACTLY the same...HMMMMM? This box is about $2 cheaper than the Madison brand. What makes this box so good is: 1) Quality - this is a very sturdy and thick PVC box. 2) Being sturdier, the device 6/32 mounting holes are much more durable (why you should NEVER use a fiberglass box!). 3) The two angled screws are designed to end up a bit recessed so that a short won't make contact with one of those screws. That would be bad as the current would not be going to ground to trip the breaker, but through a screw which turns into a cal rod inside your stud - yes, that would be VERY bad! 4) Those screws hold that box very tightly against the stud and thereby makes the box stable when plugging or unplugging a plug from the outlets. My daughter's house needed some upgrades and these boxes make the job easy. Easy to take a 1 gang box and replace it with a 2 gang box like this without having to cut the walls open other and enlarging for the box size. The NM clamps will need to be pre-opened with a fairly large flat-blade screwdriver - What you had on the other side! Don't pay any attention to the 10, 12 and 14 embossing on the back...each one of those openings/clamps are the exact same size! Not sure what they were thinking there. Update: I find that before installing, grab the box carefully without your hand being near the soon to be protruding screws and use a drill driver to spin the screws in reverse while pushing will pilot the holes and when you actually go to screw it in it will not want to wander further into the wall since you will have virtually no resistance before the screws tips bite into the wall stud.

Electrical wall pass through project
Single Product Review: Madison new/old work boxes Discussion: These boxes are the best for outlets/electrical boxes which require structural strength. As these were going to house outlets, which I planned on plugging/unplugging often, I wanted extra strenth, especially the 2-gang holding both the twist lock plug (NEMA L5-15P), and a switch. These were easy to mount, using the included screws. Cut the dry wall a little on the tigher side, so that it will hold the box in place as it is screwed to the wall stud. Project Summary: I have a temporary solar/PV battery backup project in the garage, and I wanted to use the generated solar power inside the house. Previously has an extension cord running through the door to the garage, but that's not safe for a lot of reasons, so I wired up a couple of electrical boxes, and wired in a cut-out switch. The inside connections are a standard wall outlet, and the outside connection to the inverter is via a twist lock plug, for extra security. Project Recommendations: 1) I looked at a lot of generator inlet receptacles, but most were 20-30 amp, and I don't need that large (standard 15A), so I used a NEMA locking L5-15P instead. 2) As this was going to be a twist lock plug, I wanted to attach the electrical box to a stud if at all possible (vs. using the electrical box which clamps onto dry-wall). The Madison Electric Products boxes were perfect. I used a single gang on the inside box, and for the outside, I used a 2-gang so that I could also fit a cut-off switch. I mounted the 2-gang box rotated 90 degrees to the normal orientation for two reasons: a) I could screw it directly into the horitzontal stud, and b) I could mount the plug on the bottom, and the switch on the top. 3) When it comes to electrical parts, I generally go with Leviton, which I have had great success with. The only item I got that was a different brand was the right angle plug (which Leviton also offers, I just didn't see it when placing the order, otherwise I would have ordered that one instead). Conclusion: All the products listed in the review, and used for this project I am rating 5-stars. These worked exactly as advertised. I had great success going through 1/2 drywall. The cutters do wear as they cut but as long as you go slow with proper pressure it’s works perfectly. Will buy this style anytime I need

I was ready to give this a great review as installing the box into the wall was easy and there is tons of room in the box. The problems for me started when I started to install switches and an outlet. The outlet is old but the switches were new. When installing the outlet into the box a screw head snapped off. Initially I thought it was just an old screw but then one of the new screws also snapped. I realized that the holes were not drilled deep enough so the screws bottomed out. I was able to get one out but the other was too deep inside the hole. I managed to drill out and use a larger screw temporarily but now I need to rip everything apart and start again. If you get this test the holes before installing and drill out if needed. Update: Ended up ordering another one as I can't find anything similar. Tested all the holes and they were all fine so guess I just had a bad one the first time round.
