Amazing Grip for DCS World
I’ve had this grip for about 1-1/2 years now and I must say Thrustmaster did an outstanding job on it! No issues so far with it. Really adds to the immersion in game and the1:1 replica is a real game changer. If you have this and the F-18 throttle another company sells, it makes for some pretty fluid HOTAS functions like selecting the Litening targeting pod on your right DDI with the castle switch followed by a double press of the undesignate/nose wheel steering button on the control stick to un-stow the pod and then using the TDC slew on the throttle to look around and then designate a target. Really makes you feel like you’re flying the really thing! Apparently some people actually replace a few of the factory switches with real mil-spec switches, those things are a bit expensive lol. Maybe I’ll look into that some more down the road. Definitely worth the price!!

Fantastic build quality
Best build quality, I have grips from all the usual suspects (VKB, VIRPIL, WINWING, ecc) this is by far the best I own and I always find myself returning to this grip.

Must have for DCS F/A-18 or AV-8B Harrier Modules
If you own the Thrustmaster Warthog stick, you'll know exactly what you're getting with this stick. The build quality is over similar quality and has a great feel and weight to it. The button all automatically import into DCS and it is very easy to use. I primarily flight the Harrier and bought this still specifically for that module and can say that it is close enough to the actual Harrier stick you won't notice. The biggest upgrades to this stick over the A-10 Warthog stick is the push button on the hats. 2 of the 4-way hats also have a push down button. Next is the WP-Increment button followed by the 2 way wheel with a click. This isn't actually on the real flight stick but it is incredibly useful especially for control the FOV and zoom on the TGP/Maverick. Any regular Harrier pilot should have this stick.

Hornet pilots rejoice
Great product. Feels great. Smooth. Love it. Now to learn to fly the darn aircraft in DCS world and land on a carrier. Fun times ahead.

Good stick with some underlying issues
I really like the realism of the stick and the ability to map all the buttons in DCS. However, this thing has a major mounting issue that has been there since I bought it. When you are in a dog fight, it has a tendency to rotate if you accidentally twist your hand during a roll or pitch input. I tried tightening it like a gorilla would and tried extensions, nothing worked. It is one of the worst things to happen in a dogfight and just the concern that it might happen lessens your usage of the stick. Another much more subtle issue is that it has a very slight snap or click as you are pushing or pulling on the stick. That one is annoying and although it affects the precision, I've found it (barely) tolerable. It is beyond the warranty and since these are manufacturing defects, a replacement would not matter anyway. I've hesitated to put something like Loc-Tite or plumber's tape on it. Such a shame for what is otherwise a very nice control.

Must have for Hornet, Harrier, or Eagle fans - solid joystick
I am a big fan of flight sims (primarily DCS) and getting a joystick grip that mimics the jets I fly in the simulator adds a tremendous amount of immersion. The grip feels to be the same level or high quality than the Thrustmaster Warthog grip. The head of the grip is significantly larger which can be a pro or con. The hat switches all have a distinctive 'click' when activated so there's no ambiguity around when a button has been depressed. Speaking of buttons, the level of force to activate the main trigger, pickle button feels significantly heavier which I find to be a positive -- they don't feel like toys with very little resistance. The grip is not 100% metal as with the Warthog grip but it's not a detractor. The parts of the handle that you interact with is metal and it feels solid. One other thing to note is that the Hornet grip has fewer buttons than the Warthog grip, so if you were looking for a single grip to cover all your bases, the Warthog grip may be a better option. The grip pairs nicely with the Warthog base or with the higher end Virpil base. While the grip is expensive, it is worth the price and I'm glad Thrustmaster continues to make products to cater to our niche flight sim market.

As close as you can get to the real deal
It's truly incredible that we can have such a close replica waiting at home to use with DCS. Combining this with a VR headset and some rudder pedals, and it's nearly as good as you're going to get at your home without spending thousands of dollars on displays, actual switches, and a physical cockpit to sit in. Tiny little differences, the pinky switch isn't as long as it should be, the castle and weapon select switch have a little "click" feel to them, but not the full "toggle" sense, if you know what I mean. Everything works great, and this is as close as you can get to having it at home. Thanks Thrustmaster for making this product, even if in limited supply and sold as separate pieces (I needed to buy this stick, then separately a base for it). If you want something that simulates F/A-18 - this is for you.

Sticky Buttons out of the box
Button 10 (Sensor Control Switch Left/Hat) Stuck everytime out of the box. The weapon control switch to the right stuck every fourth press or so. It seems to be a problem with these sticks. The return was a quick drive to the UPS store. I'll just stick with my warthog grip. Edit: Purchased it again and the sensor switch did not return to center. I had to move it manually the last mm or the button would hang on. I did a replacement and the third stick did the same thing. Quality is garbage. 0/3 is horrible.

After destroying 2 lower-end models of Thrustmaster joysticks by being too aggressive during my WW2 simulation VR multiplayer DOG fights, i've realized what the hell did i spend my money on previous stuff when the answer was this(these) hostas. Do not waste your money on cheap products but rather get the top of the line products, because there is a very V E R Y big difference in what you pay is what you get. If money is an issue, ok, but make it a goal to save up. I feel that I have bought a product designed for precision and reliability at a high cost. Exactly what you should expect after spending the money on the stand-alone magnetic base and a SOLID joystick. Save up then spend your money on this, I and others are trying to ensure you that you won't regret it.

A must have for the DCS Flight Sim fan! Thrustmaster's F A 18 grip is perfect for us F 18 sim pilots using DCS as the stick is EXACTLY the same as the one found in cockpit which really adds to the immersion. All buttons and triggers operate just like the real plane with regards to weapons and sensors. Extremely well built, this thing is solid and made of real metal. In terms of comparing to Thrustmaster's A10 Warthog stick, very similar in terms of overall quality and feel. Big difference is the F 18 stick is designed to work perfectly (button for button) as the real F 18 stick. Great product!
