Perfect solution to suv hatch being open
Used this to prevent 16’ wide garage door from closing when suv hatch is open. Used info from a previous review but changed the power source. I used a 120 vac to 12 vdc plug in transformer. Wired the normally closed yellow and white to the garage sensor wire that has the black side stripe. Cut that wire and connected the yellow and white to each end of the cut sensor wire. I mounted the transmitter 70” off the floor so it is above eye level due to brightness. Works perfectly. Also, if there is a problem, all I have to do is unplug the transformer and it is like it not doing anything since the relay contacts are normally closed in the no power mode. PS: I added a magnetic reed switch with NC and NO contacts at the door half open position to turn on beam power. The beam is only on when the door is open. When it closes, the power to the optical sensor is off. The optical sensor takes 30 to 70 milliamperes and the switch is rated at 500 millamperers.

Great sensors. Better than original.
The factory sensors that came with our gates finally died. R.I.P. they weren’t without their faults however. Since there was nothing producing them from rain, they would stop working when it was heavy. So the hunt for Red October was on. I came across these sensors and liked how low priced they were and the design looked good. Once they arrived I was really impressed with the quality. The sensors are very well made. I noticed that they had a weather protecting “hood” with them. We have had a ton of downpours over the past month and the sensors worked the entire time. They were really easy to install. PROTIP: after installing the sensor wait until dusk or night to install the reflector on the wall. You can see the red line then and it makes it crazy easy to line everything up perfectly. I am very satisfied with this purchase and I think you will be too.

Great for automatic garage closing devices
Needed a sensor for my garage door when the hatchback is up. My garage has a 10 minute timeout so need to stop door from closing. Used this device with normally closed contacts to interrupt the light to the garage eye. Worked perfect.

Completely Satisfied. Top Quality. Great Customer Support.
I was skeptical but absolutely pleased with this product. The quality is top notch and my one question was answered by their support team via email in a couple hours. A+!! Not sure why the other reviewer only gave it one star—it’s not this company’s fault they don’t know what they need. It’s waterproof and easily covers my 24 foot driveway entrance. I rigged it to a siren on a relay timer and have the whole thing plugged into a smart switch (so I can schedule it’s operation). Easy as pie.

Don’t buy this product!!!
These sensors work great in dry conditions but are absolute JUNK if there is any moisture in the form of RAIN or HUMIDITY of any kind. Extremely frustrating. I would never buy them again. A cheap product like this has no place in a professional environment. Buyer beware!!!

Perfect to add a SUV hatch sensor
EDIT: This just paid for itself, and more. I installed it in August 2024. Today 1/1/2025, for the first time, it save me from closing my garage door onto the open hatch. If I could increase my rating to 6 stars, I would. I bought this Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Beam Sensor to add a SUV hatch sensor to my Genie garage door opener. The opener has the “Save-T-Beam” system where the Source and Sensor both have 2 wires and are connected in parallel to the opener. The new sensor requires connection to specific + and – DC voltage wires while the Safe-T-Beam system does not. So, I needed to use a voltmeter to identify the correct polarity. The attached picture shows how I wired it. How it works – The 12V DC is picked up using the Blue & Brown wires. The “OK” signal is disconnected if the new beam is interrupted by the SUV hatch. The original sensor at the floor operates just as it always has. I can’t guarantee it, but it seems that the same principle would work with other brands/types as well – you just need to understand where to interrupt the “OK” signal.
