Great Value and Quality
For context I work at an Amazon fulfillment center so this thing sees abuse every day. I use it when entering and exiting doors, clocking in and out, and logging into various devices and machinery multiple times throughout the day. The cheap ones that employer’s supply work just fine other than the inevitability that one day you’ll go to clock in and the line will retract into it’s plastic shell, never to be seen again. True story. This happens, so you get another of the same quality and the line starts fraying once again. You know what happened last time and remember how you had to carry your badge around like it was missing something. Strange. After about a week of using this I can confidently suggest that you eliminate any guesswork and get this lanyard. There are some things you should know first though. This is made out of metal and metal weighs more than plastic (fun fact). This lanyard has some weight to it. You can wear this on a vest if you don’t mind the sag but personally I’ve started wearing it clipped to my front right pocket. If you don’t mind the sag, and are used to clipping radios or similar items to your vest, you shouldn’t be bothered. This is a minor gripe and it isn’t the end of the world. This is a great upgrade and such a great value. You get 2 of these retractable lanyards and 6 badge protectors. The protectors are actually quite neat; they have a ziplock-type action going on below the 3 punched holes. This helps keep debris out so scannable barcodes don’t get obstructed and cards don’t get scratched. Back on the lanyard you have a rubber badge loop-around thing and a metal key ring. The body of the lanyard where the spool is housed is sturdy. It has a strong clip on the back about as big as you’d find on a small tape measure. It seems to hold its temper (no pun intended) and hasn’t stretched open so far. The steel cable comes out of the body through about a 1/4” grommeted hole. There is a rubber washer between the body of the lanyard and the end of the cable. The cable is plastic coated 1/32” braided steel. The spring can hold about 6.5grams of weight until it starts feeding line off. Overall I would highly recommend this retractable lanyard for its price, value, and quality and (although unlikely given the great build quality here) would definitely buy this again if the need arises.

Good for 18+ months each for heavy use
I bought this relatively inexpensive product in October 2021, and after using both the keychains and cardholders pretty extensively ever since, I can say that the keychain is...pretty adequate. Both keychains broke after 14-15 months each, however I've used them very harshly both in warehouse and industrial construction jobs. They've been dropped, stepped on, sat on dozens of times and extended almost fully during countless times of daily opening gates, car doors, masterlocks, and garages, all while holding 6+ keys, 3 keyrings, 2 cards, an occasional combination lock or two, and a varied amount of key fobs, to be carelessly thrown into a desk every single night until the next day of abuse. Both times they broke at the connection without any warning exactly as shown in the photo. In fact, I just checked the one in the photo yesterday morning out of simple curiosity to see if there was any damage to the wiring, and there was none. Got off my forklift that same evening and almost missed that my keys hadnt gotten up with me. That's my only gripe with these keychains, however im positive i could've got plenty more time out of these if i actually took care of them. They've served me well for 3 years and up until the very day of their respective deaths never showed any issues whatsoever. Shockingly, they even lasted longer than some of the things attached to them. The cardholders and the plastic bit on the keychain are somewhat cheap and will begin to split apart in a few months, but take that with a grain of salt because those got tormented as badly as the keychain. All things considered, im placing another order as soon as im done with this review. I cant find any other product as inexpensive yet sturdy as this workhorse of a keychain.

Durable and strong yet heavy
Yes, yes and yes on the durability, sturdiness and stretch. So this thing is heavy and the casing is very solid. The string feels silky soft l (if that’s a thing to describe steel Cord) meaning it doesn’t scratch or slice your skin when it retracts or rubs on you Likes: it is sturdy and you need some bit of force to pull. But that goes along with its sturdiness and ability to hold heavier objects. I only have my I’d, my tracker and another work card that would normally droop when I use a regular I’d holder, but this one stays. And yes I prefer this because if it’s length and it always retracts no matter how much I tug on it. Dislike: It is heavy lol. My scrubs tend to droop on the side this is on. This is probably best used when you have a belt or anything sturdy to hang it on. This is great with keys and/or constant use (my Work ID is for doors, unlocking computers) and it does take getting used to cause of how tough pulling it out. I usually have to rearrange my Scrubs because we are required to have our ID’s above the waist. So generally speaking: best to hang on belts, great for heavier objects like keys and/or constant pulling/retracting, bad to hang on soft areas in clothes for it tugs due to its strong retraction. Would like to have a technology to make this as durable but lighter weight since I love this minus the weight but otherwise, I’m keeping this cause I’m confident it’ll last Update: After using this for more than a month I did notice one thing: the steel wire has a covering that feels like plastic or rubber (not gonna pick at it to find out) that is fraying. The steel wire still feels intact. There is a “stuttering” feeling when you pull the wire but it still works really well. I don’t think there’s a way around not fraying this outer wire coating. Otherwise no big changes with this. I still use the one that I took out. Still makes my scrubs tilt one way but still feels sturdy that it won’t snap at me or drag down from the weight of my badge and other cards

This retractable clip card and key holder was a great addition to my work uniform, pl we nty of length and easily handles a few keys. If I had to find a criticism it would be that if the lock or swipe is above your belt height due to the high quality retractable cord it will pull the whole clip off your belt
