Okay, so the material is a little weird. The sleeve that came with mine is not at all what was advertised, but it makes the knee brace slide down anyway, and isn't worth the trouble of using. The knee brace! It is FANTASTIC! It has a pretty low profile, it keeps my kneecap tracking properly and prevents subluxations/dislocations. Even though the side hinges are fairly flimsy-looking, they've helped keep my knees stable. My knees are in a very bad way, but wearing this brace spreads out the impact, keeps things stable, and makes me far more comfortable and safe. I love that it's reversible (that is, can be worn on either leg), because I haven't bought a second one yet. The biggest possible problem of wearing two is that they'll rub together, but that's a problem with all knee braces, and these ones don't seem like they'll detach each other, which is often what happens with Velcro. The Velcro is thick and strong, without being difficult to work with. Also, I read that these are contracted out to different companies and the quality can vary--I got the blue XL/XXL and I'm thrilled with it. Pointers: make sure you measure very carefully as the manufacturer clearly explains, and don't tug on the webbing part or it will wear out sooner. Oh, and a last thing--yes, there's fabric that goes around the back of the kneecap. It doesn't tug, it doesn't bunch, it doesn't hurt. It mainly seems there to keep the straps above and below in place, so they don't work into the back of your knee and make it uncomfortable, either. Great job, DonJoy! I shredded my knee a year ago and it is continuing to heal. I’m not sure it will ever heal completely. I ripped the kneecap right off sideways and everything that was holding it was torn. The knee literally went backwards 4 inches. That is the wrong direction to be going backwards! An orthopedic surgeon gave me this brace and it has been by far the best brace I’ve used. Due to the very high price, I have attempted to use at least 20 different styles of braces since. That has been a huge waste of time and money. And in the end, I lost my original brace on a trip. And I’ve ended up ordering two more of these $80 braces. The price is absolutely ridiculous and I feel taken advantage of by the price. But I love these braces. They make me feel more stable than any other others. I highly recommend this lightweight brace. It keeps my kneecap in the spot where it needs to be, and the height of the brace makes my leg feel much more stable. When my knee was at its worst in the beginning this was not nearly enough support by itself. I think I was on crutches for about nine months. The brace rolls up compactly for storage or travel. I washed this in the washing machine all of the time and hang it to dry.

I ordered this brace after having meniscus surgery on my knee 5 months ago. I was hoping it would provide support for me while trying to get back into activities like hiking, biking, and skiing. I measured my leg according to the instructions and ordered a size large. After the brace arrived, I tried it on with the compression sleeve. It was so tight that I could not wear it. I tried the brace without the sleeve and it fit ok. It has to be strapped on tight to work properly, which makes it less comfortable. I decided to try it on a mountain bike ride. I strapped it on and loaded my bike into my truck for a 15 minute drive to the trails. My leg was in pain by the time I arrived due to the brace. I rode around for about 2 minutes and the brace was very uncomfortable and did not perform as I was hoping. I took it off I think the problem is on the design. It seems like once the knee is flexed, it stretches the plastic until the knee is in the straight position. This does not allow partial flexion, which renders it useless for me and what I wanted to use it for. I ended up finding a better one made by 3m at my local cvs. I have worn it skiing multiple times and often forget it is there as it provides the support I want. I do not recommend this brace because in my opinion it is so uncomfortable that I do not want to wear it.

This is my second DonJoy Reaction Knee Brace. I LOVE THEM! This brace gives me tremendous support and moves/bends easily. It is by far the best knee brace I have ever used and I have used a number of them. I use it exercising, hiking in the mountains, and doing dog agility. Some other braces (and even a different DonJoy knee brace) sometimes pinch the sides or back of your knee when you are moving. This one is comfortable and provides lots of support. I removed one star for the following reasons: 1) The velcro on my first reaction knee brace quickly wore out and wouldn't stick anymore. I did call DonJoy and purchased a velcro add-on so that the brace would hold but it didn't have the same tightness as this new one does; 2) Like all braces, it is hot, but that seems to be the nature of the beast; 3) If you wear this brace over pants, it doesn't stay up as well as I would like and keeps slipping down. It really does much better staying put when it is next to your skin (which does make you pretty sweaty!). There is a sleeve that comes with it but I still think it stays in place best with it next to your skin. Despite these 3 things, I still think this is the best brace out there, and I highly recommend it. For reference, I injured my knee in a fall whereby I nicked all the ligaments and tendons; the patella tendon had to be re-attached; and I shattered all the cartilage in my knee. This beauty does the trick for me! It was recommended by my PT and orthopedic surgeon and they were spot on!

This brace is amazing, so much stabilization. Totally makes it possible for me to be active with a torn meniscus. Very easy to adjust to fit well and my knee joint is super supported. The on/off process is way better than the neoprene thing the doctor gave me. I survived a mosh pit with this thing aftera day of hiking and then ran around at the beach the next day— I would not have believed this was possible before. With this thing I feel like I can be active again without falling over in pain. I did have to put cushioned tape on one corner bc it was signing into my thigh a bit. This is prob bc I have heavier thighs than the athletes it was designed for. Minor addition fixed it though. Really thankful for this brace!

PROS: • Keeps the Kneecap in Place (better than other braces in my opinion) • Easy to Remove & Tighten - Only Four (4) Velcro Straps • Separate Cloth Sleeve Cover for knee/leg to aid in comfort (and to prevent slippage?) • Material - Rubber+Cloth Material. No Real Metal makes this brace pretty comfortable to wear. • Reputable Brand “DonJoy” = extensive line of durable medical products CONS: • BROKE within ONE (1) week of receipt & use the Rubber Webbing Broke (only slightly, but imho indicated more to come) • Materials = Non-Metal+Rubber = Not very good for Long Term durability • TOO MUCH MOVEMENT - Range of Motion - Non-Metal Joints on Each Side of Knee allow too much range of motion and not enough ‘sturdy’ structural support. • SLIPPAGE - Brace tends to Slip Up/Down during light movement (standing/walking) = Note: I was using a Size S/XS so smallest available size! • REPLACEMENT/REFUND “Process” Extensive (Frustrating)- MUST be Returned for either a Replacement or Refund (Photos, Multiple Emails, Printing Label, Repackaging+Arrange Pick-Up or Drop at Drop box) = seems a LOT for an item I received in just a white plastic envelope without any packaging material. After suffering a patella track issue, I purchased a DonJoy Web Knee Support brace. Initially, I loved this brace, but during the 1st week my brace webbing broke (see photos), which was very disappointing and speaks of its lack of long-term reliability. The brace webbing seems unique to this DonJoy product. I found that the webbing offers a unique amount of support that feels as if it is much more efficient at keeping One’s kneecap/patella in place compared to other braces. This brace also offers the same common support as other braces, with the two (2) joint supporting ‘struts’ {?- not sure of their proper name} on each side of the knee. However, unlike many other side supports, this brace’s side supports are NOT metal, but made of plastic. I felt that the plastic supports seem to bulge out sideways whenever I bent my knee, which I didn’t like. I think the brace would be much better if the supports were metal and better limited the overall motion of the knee. This brace also includes a slip over the leg/knee cloth nylon? sleeve, used to offer a bit of compression possibly (not enough to be uncomfortable or really qualify as compression), but definitely helps maintain the webbing portion’s location, so it does not slide up or down, both of which I experienced while wearing the brace. I found I would end up tightening the brace when sitting and my knee was bent, and then that this brace would slip up or down when I would stand or I actively moved (I walked, not like I was doing anything athletic). While this brace is good compared to others so far as a kneecap/patella track issue (kneecap popping out of track). I do not think I would recommend this brace if looking for general knee support or a brace to limit knee morion. Also, I believe it is extremely Important the sizing is correct, and I would go so far as to recommend that you contact a local prosthetic or durable medical equipment company to see if they sell this device and ask them to measure you in person for it. You can always take those measurements or the size they tell you and then order the brace here on Amazon or wherever. POST SALES SUPPORT Note: I would be more understanding of the extensive “process” if I were filing months later. My issue was within the 1st week! SELLER: (Via E-mail): When I contacted Motion Store, the Seller, I was told they would be happy to process a replacement. However, after multiple emails, my taking requested photos attached. I now have to send the brace back for them to even replace the device, ridiculous! So, do NOT count on post sales support without jumping through multiple hoops! Being down sick w/a cold+on one foot (I deep sprained my ankle so in a different DonJoy (MaxTrax foot boot). So, I decided I was done with the whole pain the bum situation at this point. But, if I return this product, it won’t be for a replacement. It will now be for a full refund (& I won’t buy another DonJoy product ever!) I will update later if I go forward with the refund “process”. MANUFACTURER: (Via Phone) Spoke to DonJoy the brace Manufacturer. For Replacement or Refund, expect to be required that You provide photos, wait for a Return Request to be processed and You MUST return the product, They will provide a shipping label for the return if approved. Tip/My opinion: This item is considered “Durable Medical Equipment (DME)” by Insurance Companies, and should be covered by most Health Ins.Co’s fully or at a percentage. It’s worth a shot to call and ask them before paying for it yourself. May need Your Primary Doctor to order for you, but would be Free! Plus, If thru a local distributor then any return/replacement would be a heck of a lot easier!!

I’m surprised by what it does. Helps with knee pain 50%. But also limits rang of motion.

This is such a great knee brace . I wore it on my knee when I went to Europe . I walked in Italy , Croatia and Ireland. It really protected my knee and felt such great support. I had to have a knee replacement when I got back home from vacation I would not have been able to endure the trip without this knee brace !!
