*please excuse my face* This is the second review I have done on this product after stupidly buying (I cannot spell this- which will become apparent) a swarzcopf hair curling kit which absolutely RUINED my hair. I should of known better. I HATE that brand and have for years, but anyway. THIS is Smokey grey. It is LUSH. Much better than the lighter grey and leaves the hair totally conditioned to the max. The last time I used this product (the previous review I've referred too) my hair was in GORGEOUS condition and shone so much. It was more metallic dark ISH silver than Smokey grey but as I said I ruined it myself SO this is application two after swarzcopf turned my hair GINGER and made most of it break and stick in my hair brush and it's gone way better than I expected. I would recommend all day long. The colour is gorgeous. The application so easy. The amount is VERY generous (even though I pile it on I still end up with 15/20% of dye left over). It comes with gloves that fit instead of big oversized good for nothing femidoms. AND it comes with a TUBE of conditioner that although says will do 3 washes, I actually got 5 out of my last one and it smells flipping delicious. It's that good that if you're not happy, never mind L,Oreal , I will give you a refund myself (lol joke) . But seriously, BUY THIS. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great quality and colour. Easy to use

My natural hair color is deep dark brown, close to black. A few months before I dyed my hair with this product I had dyed it blue black (I think). Because my hair is long and fairly thick, I bought two boxes. I dyed my hair twice with the same dye and left 6 weeks before the second dye. The color did take after the first time, but was darker than expected. My hair looked dark brown when I was indoors and dark purple under the sun. That's why I dyed my hair a second time 6 weeks later. My hair now(see pic) looks closer to the color shown on the box. A lot brighter and more vibrant. It shows when I'm indoors and even more obvious when I am out. Although it does look bit reddish, which doesn't bother me whatsoever. I just wish I could have done a better job because on the picture the color looks a bit patchy... The whole kit was fairly easy to use. Except for the gloves. I really struggle to put my hands in them easily or comfortably! They are too small! My hands may be a medium size but definitely not a large. Smell... is a big minus! It was one of the worst I have had, having tried a number of hair dye products. Extremely harsh smell. Even when I had the window open, it was pretty strong still! I only wish it would have been practical to put on a mask lol The conditioner that comes with the kit is the best conditioner I have EVER used! It's like magic! My hair was an extremely dry and entangled mess after I washed the dye out. However, after applying only a peasized amount of their conditioner my hair was tamed, soft, smooth and sleek instantly! One tube lasted me three weeks and I used it every time I washed my hair. I will now be looking to see where I can buy just this conditioner!! Overall, above average hair dye for me. Fairly happy. Will try again.

So I used the smokey grey and silver grey on my bleach blonde hair. I had really dark regrowth and some orange and brassy patches in the blonde, so thought this would definitely cover it all and would just blend in with my dark roots... It DID cover the orange and brassy tones, but also turned my roots ORANGE! Not exactly the look I was going for! The dye smells really strong and was actually burning my eyes; and the consistency was like water, which made heck of a mess! But the conditioner smells lovely to be fair, although my hair has been left super dry and feral looking! Overall the colour is nice, and at a fiver you can't fault it too much, but worth noting it lightens your roots because I'll have to buy something else now just to cover them!

Good hair dye, works on light and dark hair and doesn't take about three bottles of hair dye

I tried the John Frieda 5RV last time but was a bit coppery and I wanted something more plum coloured but still with a level 5 shade, so for my 3rd experiment with home colour since lockdown (I've been paying a hairdresser for 30+ years) I bought the L'Oreal Colorista in Violet. This didn't smell as nice as the previous brand I tried but was bearable if a little strong. I had the bathroom extractor on and the window open. The gloves are awful, too big, and too thin, like trying to do your hair with bin bags on. Application was easy, was bit worried after reading the reviews but it didn't really make a mess, bit flicked on the bathroom mirror but that was it. I just squeezed straight out of the bottle and ran it in lines over my scalp then massaged it in at the end, it didn't drip but I was only doing my root area and a few inches down. It looked very red rather than violet while it was on my hair. Was nervous to take the towel off and look after washing... but once blow dried I love it! I have quite pronounced grey roots now with a big patch at the front/side. The grey roots with this have come out as brighter pink highlights and I love it, more so than the hairdressers colour that covers them up! A few years ago I used to pay my hairdresser to put a panel colour in but I've got an inbuilt one now! So colour on grey is fine, just a bit brighter. Colour was fab! It looks different in different light. Very shiny violet colour, looks better than on the box. My hair is long but I was only doing roots to match in with a colour at the hairdresser and it was a great match, you can't see any difference.. £5 compared to £102 in the hairdressers, and it looks the same! I also love doing my own hair as I have more control in colour and frequency, it's been a revelation. Will definitely use this again. Will see how it lasts.. but I need to recolour every 4-5 weeks due to roots anyway. Will try and add some pics in different light.
