I was not a believer, but now I am. The hook holder was not as sturdy as I needed. Frequent blown over by the wind. However, I just picked it up and put it back in the ground. But the product worked great. Saved my flowers for a couple of summers.

WOW! This year was the worst Japanese Beetle year we have seen in a long time!! Even with 40+ tea hybrid rose bushes- all with medium to strong scent- we usually go around once every, or every other day walk around knocking them into jars to feed to the chickens. (Who get very excited when they see us with the jars btw! Lol!) However this year was horrible we were actually struggling to keep the bushes in enough leaves to survive, and about 4 first year bushes were on the verge of failure! So Spectracide bags & bait were deployed. We've used them in the past, and they are THE best on the market for bait & bags. Living out in the country even though the Japanese Beetle can smell a single bush for miles we do not usually require any treatments, but get 1 neighbor who buys a planted rose bush (vs barefoot), or 6 in our case, and they inadvertently bring the beetles home with them, and bam within a couple months there's an infestation! Because we live in the country things like raccoons, and opossums like to chew on the corner of the bags to get at the beetles, because if you have never used these bags - you are not going to believe how many beetles it amasses in a day! (If like us you live in the country pull the bags up in the evening, and put back the next morning to prevent that) That being said you have to do a few common sense things like - have the bags away from your plants, so they fly to the bags, not your plants, keep bait fresh (you can reuse the bags if your good with emptying them), the bait must smell stronger/sweeter than your plants. ALSO, and here's the big one we learned after 9 of our bushes were pushed to the brink (it only takes a week, or 2) is to put some bags between your plants, and your idiot neighbors house. It keeps them from ever getting to your bushes in the first place. **We DO recommend this product as experienced hybrid tea rose growers. AND in case you're wondering there are also other steps you can take. Taking the time to talk to your local extension office, or state horticulturist can give you heaps of information about other steps you should take depending on your specific area.

Kept falling apart after slotting the rods together, but use of a vice & pliers fixed that. Now it does not fall apart as easily.

I had some Japanese Beatles and wasn't sure how to get rid of them and I found this product on Amazon and I gave it a try. It trapped the Beatles and bagged them in a disposable bag and it worked as advertised. That was about 5 years ago and I haven't had any Japanese Beatles since and now my plants are healthy.

Comes in 4 pieces that do not stay together very well. Weak for standing up straight. Tilt! But I suppose it does the job but just barely. Not sure what would happen if more than ten beetles were in the bag. Only a few bucks but if I had known I would have rigged up my own stand.
