Works perfectly!
Perfect for securing work equipment in the back of my truck. Very versatile and easy to use. Seems to be made well and hope it performs well when exposed to winter conditions. So far, I am pleased and would gladly purchase again.

Extremely Durable, Works Excellent!
The Master Lock Cable Lock offers exceptional durability and security, safeguarding your assets from theft. Installation and usage are remarkably simple. Wrap the cable around or through the desired object, insert it into the designated locking mechanism, and pull it tight for secure fastening. Conveniently, you can secure the cable through the lock without the constant need for a key; it's only required for unlocking. There's also an integrated strap to secure any access cable! This cable lock boasts an impressive length of six feet, providing ample reach to secure a wide range of items. I personally utilize this cable lock to secure the lid of my trailer's battery box, ensuring it remains securely closed and preventing unauthorized access. Furthermore, the cable lock incorporates robust safety features, including resistance to lock picking, adverse weather conditions, and cutting attempts. Its 5/16-inch thick braided steel cable, encased in protective vinyl, ensures enhanced durability and protection from the elements, eliminating concerns about rust. The value proposition of this cable lock significantly exceeds its cost, making it a highly recommended choice in my opnion for anyone seeking reliable security solutions. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and would confidently recommend it to others without reservation.

Good cinch-locking cable, just don't have excessive expectations for it
It's not going to stop a determined thief, who will on average be carrying a bolt-cutter of some size. A basic knife won't go through this and probably neither will an average wire cutter. However I would not, for example, lock up a bike or motorcycle somewhere with just this and be gone all day. Nor would I want to try to protect something worth thousands of dollars with a mere twelve dollar lock. However, it will likely deter the average snatch-grab opportunists. In our case, if I want to fill a can of gas for the lawn tractor back home, I don't want to be forced to make it the last stop while out on errands or have to put the filled can in the cab (which is really not safe at all), and this will let me lock the can to one of the D-rings in the bed of our pickup. We also have a metal cargo divider back there sometimes to make shopping easier--well, I want to lock that, too, so I'm not fretting about it while we're inside shopping at Home Depot or Costco. Again, it won't stop a determined, prepared thief--heck, a locked vehicle door won't even do that--but it will tend to deter the tweakers and miscreants who might think they can just grab and run. Definite pro on this is its adjustability and the fact you can snake the cable through just about anything with a hole in it. The trouble with those double-ended loop cables is often the loop is too big to fit. As for cons, well, this cable is probably less secure than one of those larger double-loop cables, especially when they are paired with a strong padlock. But for casual use and ease of locking and unlocking, this locking cable is pretty good. The keys are somewhat on the flimsy side, and so there my suggestion is to be sure it is completely inserted in the lock before trying to turn it; if there's resistance, it probably isn't in all the way. I think another reviewer remarked about WD-40 or oil on the cable causing it to no longer be held firmly, so I'm planning to be careful about that as well. Like I said, it's not perfect or perfectly secure, but it's way better than nothing.

Cool lock - works well for many game cameras
I have three of these python locks now (and three game camera - one Moultrie, one Truth Camera and one Bushnell Trail camera - not all models accept the cables, but many do). One Python I've been using on a camera that watches the front of my property near a barn for over a year now, the others in various locations on the trails in my property to check out wildlife. I typically retrieve the photos anywhere from 1-3 week intervals and haven't had many issues with them getting fouled up. One of the locks was getting hard to work the key in it so I put in several squirts of graphite and worked the lock 5-8 times and it is fine again. The locks have been used throughout either one or two midwest winters and have held up fine - I haven't had to take them off after an ice storm - might need to warm them up with a thermacare heat wrap or ones hands to melt off ice in that case. Once you set the lock to be 'engaged' you can put the cable in it and it will only go through the one way - i.e. you can tighten it, but not loosen the cable. Haven't had anyone take any of my cameras yet, but then I haven't seen any trespassers in my photos either...

3 purposes with one purchase
I purchased this lock to wrap up a couple bikes to a Bike Rack for a hitch while traveling. My rack is the common style hitch rack where the bikes hang from two bars. This lock serves 3 purposes with one purchase! 1, it’s a very quick an easy way to lock up the bikes to the rack. It’s not Manhattan-proof since it’s just a cable, but it puts you at ease at the gas stations and restaurants. I was even able to protect all 4 wheels of 2 bikes by feeding the cable through. 2, it acts as an incredibly strong tie to make sure the bikes don’t come off the rack while driving. Major redundancy factor here, as you will not need any other cables or bungee cords. I also love the one-way lock mechanism. It allows you to really cinch up the bikes tighter than any rope knot. And 3, Once you are at your destination, you can use the lock again as a normal bike lock when you are out for rides. It’s relatively light weight and can coil up tight enough to fit in a small under-seat bag. Now, as a hitch security, I should mention that you should also have a locking hitch pin. Otherwise, someone could technically throw your entire rack with bikes into the back of a truck in under 30 seconds. And no, a threaded bolt with a nut does not count as a lock. You have just added 30 more seconds to the clock. And the 6 feet cord is not exactly generous when it comes to using this to tie up multiple bikes, but for my purposes, it turned out to be the perfect length. I can tie 2 adult bikes, pushed tightly together against the back of my rack. There isn’t much cable to spare when doing this and I had to be creative with how I weaved it through, but I wouldn’t want the cable to be any longer unless I had more bikes. An 8 feet cable would be nice for 3 bikes. I have engaged the lock and opened it about 50 times with no issues. Sometimes the key is little tough to unlock, but remember that we are dealing with a cam mechanism here, meaning the harder you pull, the tighter it gets. So have some finesse and don’t force anything and it will unlock smoothly.
