I'm not sure it's possible to give yourself a good massage no matter what the tool. Maybe one of the more deluxe models would work a little better but they seem very pricey for a fairly simple piece of wood. I have a friend that does wood working and I'm betting he could make something similar that works just as well for a much better price.

Some I have bought to use on my customers, and some I use on myself. I'm keeping this one for myself. I have a trouble spot on my left trap, that I can never seem to reach. Out comes this cute little tool, and I give myself a fast little spot massage. I love this tool. A+.
