worked great out of box... Small issue of going from win10 to win11 tho. Win10 was drag /drop, no problems. When linked on win11, file folders were not found. Solved issue: create the folders on Win11 first, then drag /drop from win10 to those folders....all good Speed good for it's type, 2TB is plenty BU for me.

Noise & Heat: The drive runs quietly, with only a faint hum during heavier transfers. It also stays at a stable temperature; even after extended use, it never ran hot or worried me. For anyone planning to keep it inside a PC case or use it as an external backup unit, this is definitely a plus. Build Quality: The construction feels sturdy and well-made. Nothing cheap or flimsy about it. The ports are secure, the casing feels solid, and overall it gives the impression of something built to last. For a drive of this capacity, that peace of mind matters. Capacity & Use Case: 4TB is a sweet spot for a lot of people—it’s plenty of room for games, media collections, backups, or general long-term storage. I’ve already loaded it with a substantial amount of data, and it performs just as smoothly at higher fill levels as it did when empty. Overall: This is one of those purchases that doesn’t try to impress with bells and whistles—it just works. And honestly, that’s exactly what I wanted. If you're looking for a straightforward, reliable 4TB hard drive that performs well and doesn’t cause headaches, this one is a solid choice. I’d absolutely buy it again.

Great, for local storage either networked or not. Recommend replacing their garbage usb cable that comes with it (cable matters makes a good one). Pretty silent under low operation, speed is usb. Lifespan with seagate is hit or miss. I’ve had drives from them last a couple days and I’ve had drives last nearly a decade so hardware gambling. Wouldn’t recommend anything sensitive going on it, if it dies it’s gone. I use mine paired with a local caching machine for windows and steam updates. (Games too) it runs on the network via that “server” and as I learned when dealing with mechanical drives, don’t put stuff on it you can’t afford to lose. Was getting 460ish MB/s average read and 390ish MB/s write with your peaks and dips associated with HDD madness.

The external hard drive enclosure is slightly bigger than the actual hard drive itself. In my experience it has an okay speed. Not the fastest drive that I've used. The USB port is a normal usb-a 3.0 port so no usb-c. The power source has multiple adapters for people who would use it for their travels so no matter what kind of power outlet it present you should be okay. The design of the external case has openings to vent the heat coming from the actual hard drive inside. In terms of security, the drive is held in my rubber pads within the external enclosure that are surrounded by plastic tabs that hold it in. The external hard drive is a good choice to use for a NAS build if you are comfortable shucking the external case. The price is competitive when compared to a normal NAS internal drive. If you choose to go that route bear in mind that shucking the drive comes at the risk of voiding the warranty. Overall it's decent and has been running well on my NAS. The okay speed on the drive is the limiting factor which is why it's 4 out of 5 stars. Lastly the actual enclosure itself will still run other old drives if the ribbon cable and board aren't damaged during the shucking process. Any old 3.5 internal drives would work perfectly to recycle and not throw out the remaining hardware.

What i like about this HDD is the stable transfer speed with power supply unlike other that are unstable transfer speed. Got few TB of data transferred at ease. Only thing that might be a down side is the sound created might be a nuisance but overall it works very well for my heavy data. Will be back if data exceed again!

Einrichtung und Konnektivität Die Einrichtung der Seagate Portable Drive 4TB an der Fritzbox war kinderleicht und verlief ohne jegliche Probleme. Die Festplatte wurde sofort erkannt, und die Integration als Netzwerkspeicher funktionierte einwandfrei. Dank der USB 3.0-Schnittstelle ist die Verbindung stabil und die Datenübertragung flott. Leistung und Zuverlässigkeit Für meine Bedürfnisse – hauptsächlich die Sicherung von Daten sowie das Speichern von Fotos und Videos von verschiedenen Smartphones – ist die Geschwindigkeit dieser HDD völlig ausreichend. Die Festplatte arbeitet leise und ohne merkliche Erwärmung, selbst bei Dauereinsatz. Seit Juni läuft sie ohne Unterbrechung und hat bisher keinerlei Ausfälle oder Datenverluste verzeichnet. Die Datenübertragung ist zügig genug, um große Dateimengen effizient zu verwalten, ohne lange Wartezeiten in Kauf nehmen zu müssen. NAS-Betrieb Als NAS-Speicher macht die Seagate Portable Drive 4TB eine hervorragende Figur. Die Schreib- und Lesegeschwindigkeiten sind für den Heimgebrauch mehr als angemessen. Selbst wenn mehrere Geräte gleichzeitig auf die Festplatte zugreifen, bleiben die Übertragungsraten stabil. Dies ist besonders beim Backup von Smartphones und dem Streamen von gespeicherten Medien von Vorteil. Nutzungshinweise und Einschränkungen Für den vorgesehenen Zweck – die Datensicherung und das Speichern von Medien – ist diese HDD bestens geeignet. Sie bietet genügend Speicherplatz, um große Datenmengen zu speichern, und zeigt auch nach mehreren Monaten Dauernutzung keine Anzeichen von Leistungseinbrüchen.
