LG Electronics 8X USB 2.0 Super Multi Ultra Slim Portable DVD Rewriter External Drive with M-DISC Support for PC and Mac, Black (GP60NB50)

Recently bought a new digital audio player for travelling with, and wanted to make a serious start digitising my CDs for use with that. This little device is cheap and very effective. It has only refused to rip one of over forty CDs fed into it so far (an older disc at that). Works very well in combination with the Nero CD Ripper (freely available from Microsoft, though if you have a lot of music to back-up, well worth paying the upcharge for it to automatically do all the titling. It very occasionally gets it wrong with an older, more obscure album, but I've already saved a huge amount of time with it). Very simple operation for this CD player, no additional drivers or power leads required. Works straight out of the box with Windows 11. Have not tried it with a DVD yet, but I'm sure it's fine there - I bought to for audio use. Not massively robust, but for home use and not dropping / throwing it around, plenty robust. Very good buy at this price.

Bought this to be able to watch the anime DVD's I borrowed from my best friend and it worked well! Don't use it too often but it's nice to have that option to watch movies when it is an off day or my internet decides to not work.

It's a little on the flimsy side, but it's fine overall - does the job if you need a portable DVD player/burner. I wish there were devices with metal cases, I'd be willing to pay more, but most of the models I've seen just have plastic shells. Maybe the market just not there nowadays.

Unfortunately the market is flooded nowadays with absolute waste of time CD/DVD players that all look like cheap Chinese tat with all kinds of ridiculous brand names you will have never ever heard of. I spent hours and hours searching on Amazon for a good one, and read hundreds of reviews and in the UK every single sponsored or mass bought one had some seriously worrying negative reviews attached to them, and then I came across this one which said it was sold by Amazon US. This arrived early from the US, I didn't have to pay any extra for that either which was great value from Amazon. Item was just in a jiffy bag too which did concern me but when I opened it up all was good. All I had to do was plug this in to a spare USB and my Windows 11 PC immediately recognised it and then I was able to upload some CDs to my Itunes - I will be fair here, it was nowhere near as quick as my previous PCs inbuilt CD Drive but I think I paid extra for a good one back in the day. Whilst the item is quite thin, it doesn't feel or look cheap. I cannot try any DVD or Game discs sadly as they are all in storage but I expect they would have been fine. If this did prove to be unreliable or faulty I will update this review.

I needed an external dvd drive thanks to the joys of thinner laptops that no longer include them! I picked this one, owned quite a few LG products before and never had any troubles with them (I bought another well known korean dvd drive but it didn't work.... No guesses for the make!) Plugged it in, computer picked it up instantly. Loaded up something to test it, was very quiet in my experience. It features a few cool features I haven't had chance to really test 1) Silent Play - Apparently it monitors and adjusts the disc speed to keep the noise down 2) Jamless Play - It skips over damaged parts of the disc to stop interruptions. In all honestly, I've yet to use it fully and i'm sure the above is true but... it looks smart, it's almost the same colour as my laptop and wasn't a rip off in price so I'm happy.

Decided to buy after researching online, and am so glad I did. Although I hadn't seen any reviews about this particular model, the brand swayed me to try it. It arrived next day, looks good, is very reasonably priced and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Have not had trouble with any type of disc so far. Would definitely recommend.

Great item

Can't get it to write to 100GB Verbatim M Discs which was the point of buying it. It will read my old low memory (700Mb, 800MB, 4.7GB) CDs and DVDs and write to them without any problems. Won't recognise the drive and makes horrible noises when trying to read 100GB Verbatim discs. Not only does it say on the Amazon spec that it reads MDiscs but it also says so on the box it comes in. Disappointing

I found a few old CD's that I anted to add to my PC music files which is why I purchased the LG. Easy to use and performed as I would have expected. I would recommend this product.

What I Like - A very streamlined, slim and sleek looking DVD burner. Easy USB hookup. Worked instantly with my Windows PC and burning software. It also comes with burning software. Definitely a good value and cost if you’re looking to get a burner. Very fast speed to complete a disc. What I Don’t Like - Nothing yet.
