I bought this soft-close lid support to install on a toy chest that slammed shut, and it's been a marvel. Installation was simple thanks to the clear and well-illustrated manual included. I really liked that it can be used on either the left or right side, making it very versatile. The hydraulic mechanism works perfectly, preventing the lid from slamming shut and protecting children's fingers. The materials feel sturdy and durable, and the kit includes all the necessary screws. I 100% recommend it for chests, trunks, or even cabinet doors that open upward. An excellent purchase!

I’m really happy I got this Lid Stay. It works perfectly for my grandkids toy box and gives it such a neat, finished touch. The soft-close feature is great! It opens smoothly to just the right angle and feels like a nice upgrade. Installation was much easier than I expected, and the instructions were clear. Overall, quality is solid and reliable, and I love that it makes my grandkids toy box look more polished. A simple but really handy little addition that makes a big difference.

This soft closer works exactly as advertised, certainly improving the safety of the toy box I built for the back yard. Like other reviewers, I found the instructions worthless. However, they supply a cardboard template that makes fitting rather easy, as well as links to instructional videos. Also like other reviewers, my application was not exactly like the perfect, simple box lid that the instructions and videos contemplate, so I had to use some brainpower to compensate. Good item, works well, just allow yourself some time to get it installed correctly and expect some frustration.

Update: I changed the rating because the knobs are turning on both of the mounting plates now and hammering on the back would not make them work for any length of time. These work wonderfully to support the lid on my chest for firewood. Much better the the original ones that came with the chest that compressed a spring. However, I have some questions about quality and durability. 1. When I was attaching the plate to the cabinet I drilled pilot holes but the head on one of the four screws broke off without applying a lot of force. It broke off in the hole so I didn't try to remove it and I'm just using three screws. But I'm glad it was only one screw. 2. After a couple days it totally quit supporting the weight of the lid. (BAM!) On investigation, I found the stud had started rotating freely on the plate (see video). I was able to put it in a vise and hammer on the back with a chisel to make it tighter. I figure many people will not want to do this and I wonder how often I will have to go through this procedure... (I tested the second plate, I only had to use one support, and I can force it to rotate some with a pair of pliers and my hand, but not loose like the plate that I used a few days. If I use that second one I will have to hammer on it before I install it.)

I bought this support hinge to install on a toy box, and it turned out to be an excellent purchase. Before, the lid kept falling shut, but with this soft-close system, it stays open safely without any sudden drops. Installation was super easy — it comes with the screws, and the mechanism feels sturdy and well-made. I connected the Lid Stay to her new play box after I had finished putting it together by following the straightforward installation instructions. The hardware that is supplied in the package is used to simply screw it into the rear edge of the lid and the opening of the box. The support arm may be retracted and extended in a fluid manner, which enables the lid to become completely open to 105 degrees while remaining in place. The fact that she can get to all of her toys without the lid falling down abruptly is something that my daughter really enjoys. The strong metal design of the Lid Stay is able to handle the weight of even the most substantial and hefty lids. Its powder-coated surface is also resistant to chipping and rusting over time, like other finishes. The functionality of the gentle shut is considered to be one of my favorite aspects. Whenever my daughter is finished playing, she just presses the lid shut in a gentle manner, and the Lid Stay progressively retracts until the lid shuts in a manner that is both quiet and comfortable. The lids will no longer slam loudly! Additionally, the regulated and smooth closure is significantly safer for the fingers of young children.

Definitely have to review the instructions and it was a challenge for us bc out cheated pieces of wood in the corners. However it does the job well after we got it in correctly. Definitely a soft close touch where kids will not get hurt with lid slammed down as before

I'm a cabinet builder and was using different kinds of struts and lids supports on toy boxes window seats etc. for about the same price, this one is the easiest to install, I installed only one on a 15" x 48" Birch plywood lid and it shuts really slow, my only complaint is I wish I could adjust the closing speed but then I will complain that the price is too high if they make one, so I'm satified with it the way it is , my advice is if you watch the instructional video they screw the plate on top of the template with all the screws all the way in and then they remove them , I drilled a small pilot hole instead on all the holes, since the more times you put a screw to wood and remove them, eventually they will fall off. Hopefully these will last, I will check back if I get a call back from my customers that they broke and not working .

Don’t buy this. It came with no instructions. Then I searched for instructions on the page listing and there was an install video. In the video it shows you how to install with a mounting card. No such card was included. Neither were measurements. Terrible cheap product.

Excellent Service and a good product.

Currently making a toybox for myself and my wifes baby and wanted to make sure to have a soft close lid for the future to protect fingers. Easy to install and perfect for top lid application. They allow the top to drop at a slow pace and look nicer than the usual strut setups. very pleased even if they are a little pricey i think for the quality and other products ive used there worth the money.

Information was misleading not exactly what I received. Lid stay quality was fine .Came in a plastic bag not a box as in the picture. The install card was not there or the manual. I was contacted by email by the seller they said the there where videos of the install, did no good with out measurements.

Worked well for 4 months then failed completely, luckily it was me that discovered this and not my children. Not safe for long term use. I installed this 4 months ago on an old chest to use as a toy box. I wanted soft close as the lid crashes down and I was worried about trapped fingers. After initial installation I was extremely happy, the soft close worked and if one of the kids closed the lid it would stop any injury. However it has now failed completely, with no warning or deterioration. Complete waste of money and effort, now need to find a robust one to replace it with.
