Stainless simplicity
This coffee maker was somewhat spendy, given the lack of functions, but I wanted a stainless steel appliance to match the aeshetic of my kitchen. That being said, its somewhat nice not having the lighted display and all the other visual noise, just one button to turn on and off, nothing to reprogram, if the power cuts out. The 10 cup is wrapped with the stainless at the sides, which is different than the 5 cup, which has the black plastic sides. Basically I bought this for appearance. It's a very basic coffee maker that serves its purpose, looks great on thecountertop, with sleek, streamlined stainless steel. I also got a simplified espresso maker from Amazon to steam and froth milk, and enjoy the fact its more analog and less digital, easy and intuitive to use and maintain. All the lights, buttons and features in most devices nowadays are somewhat stressful, and I enjoy these simpler appliances.

Well built, does what it's made to do!
I'm very pleased with this Krups coffee maker. It is easy to fill the water compartment because the lid stays open until you close it. It brews quietly and the hot plate stays hot until you turn it off. A reviewer mentioned that they noticed a sputtering noise and water leaking during use. This happened to me once because I had not centered the pot correctly before turning on. I found that after placing the pot on the base and pulling it forward till it stops against the rim of the base is the correct position. If sputtering or spilling occurs its because the pot is not in the correct position. I do not use the filter that came with the pot, but it seems to be a good quality filter. I use the #2 come coffee filters. It's small so it doesn't take up much room on my counter. I make 4 cups at a time which is 2 large mugs. I'm loving this coffee maker, and it's been making great hot coffee for me everyday.

Good little coffee maker
This is a great little coffee maker. I stopped drinking coffee so it didn’t make sense to use the 12 cup maker. We have a one cup maker similar to Keurig but my husband doesn’t like how that coffee tastes. So, I got this for my husband for Christmas. Please keep in mind that a “cup” of coffee is actually 3/4 cup. This is universal no matter which coffee maker you have. Goes for tea as well. The tiny carafe clearly does not hold enough water to make 5 literal cups! We have 20 oz mugs so this makes 1 cup and enough for a top-off at the end. The lid does close but you have to press it lightly until it snaps closed. As with any pitcher, you have to pour the water slowly into the reservoir or it will dribble and spill. Filling water to the 5 cup water line on the left should result in coffee that goes up to the 5 cup coffee line on the right. When I did the initial rinse brew, 5 cups of water it gave me 5 cups of “coffee” aka hot water. The first time I brewed coffee, it gave me 5 cups to the water line. I haven’t checked the level since the first time but the coffee always tastes fine. (See photo) Pros: It came packaged securely and arrived in one piece. It’s easy to use and brews a good pot of coffee. The price was similar to name brand 5-cup coffee makers. Cons: I use the filter the unit came with but it seems flimsy so I make sure to rinse it carefully after each use. I could see that breaking over time. I read that paper filters might not fit properly so I will keep using the permanent one and keep my fingers crossed. I knew this before I purchased the machine, but I do wish it had an automatic shut off for safety. I have to shut it off once it finishes brewing or leave a note to remind myself to shut it off. If the company could add that feature in future models, this would be a 5 star for sure.

A good coffee maker.
I like the simplicity of this coffee maker-just one button, off or on. I use the 5 cup version when traveling and the 10 cup at home. I've always preferred coffee makers that used a conical filter over a basket-it just seems to make a more robust cup o' joe. This is a handsome appliance and resists finger prints well for a stainless steel finish and keeps the coffee at a good temperature. The only minor complaints I have about the 10 cup model is that the water reservoir is offset for pouring with ones right hand so not very leftie friendly. And it shuts off a little too quick, an hour after brewing. But I'm happy with it.

Great coffeemaker - though it may not last two years
This has been a great coffeemaker for me for 22 months. It died just now (heating element won't turn on, but then again I've used it many hours of - drinking 3 mugs of coffee, then 3 mugs of decaf, then (just using water), about 3 mugs of tea every day, while working from home and rarely going out. It's very easy to use, and easy pull out the carafe and pour the first cup before the coffeemaker cycle is done. I'm not inclined to criticize KRUPS for making a coffee maker that didn't quite last two years, given that I had it on about 4 hours a day and that it has served me well all that time. Too many small appliances these days don't last more than a year. My last hand vacuum, which had great reviews, lasted only 3 months. At the moment though, I'm not sure if I will replace this with the same model or get the Black&Decker model which gets even better reviews and is less expensive. I'm leaning toward the latter.....

Sole plate surface needs to be redesigned
This is a great coffee maker with a small footprint which works in a kitchen with limited counter space. It makes good coffee as well. That said, the sole plate finish started wearing off within months. now it just looks awful after a year and a half. I wipe it with a soft cloth everyday. I am the only one that uses it once a day.

Very well engineered.
Very well engineered. That makes it easy to use. It looks like it's made of stainless steel. But no, it's not. But it looks like it is and that's a very good look. I'm expecting it to live a very long time.

Good coffee maker with some quirks
The first thing I noticed was the lid (on the coffee maker, not the carafe) will not stay open on its own, which makes it difficult to add water, filter, and coffee. I solved that with a clothespin, but for Krups reputation, you'd think that (lid staying open) would be a given. Related to that, using the carafe to add water to the coffee maker is a joke. The carafe "neck's down" at the top so you have to basically turn it almost upside down to get the last of the liquid out. However, the lid (as mentioned before) is in the way. As such, you wind up pouring at least some water into the filter basket which drips onto the heater plate. The other thing I noticed, also related to the carafe, is that it dribbles unless you pour fairly slowly. Fortunately, I noticed that soon after purchase so started pouring over the sink. In general, I like this coffee maker. It came with a nice permanent filter (which stains pretty quickly) even though I use cone filters inside the basket. There aren't really any bells and whistles other than auto power off after some period (I never get that far). It makes a good cup of coffee quicker than my old machine did. I'd give it a higher rating if it were easier to add water and coffee to the machine.
