Good study guide
This guide was helpful in knowing what the author had written in the book.

Unrealistic as a Six Week Study
I really like this study. However, I do not think that in any way this should be called a 6 week study, and it is disingenuous to do so. You should plan on doubling that time for most groups. I just got done leading the first session last night, where Hamilton proposes we go through 7 chapters. Well, I did it, but only because I had prepared a study guide for my class to follow. Even at that, we had to speed through the material in order to get through the 7 chapters, with little time for discussion. Totally unrealistic timetable. I'm an experienced teacher who spent hours condensing this material to its most cogent points, and even at that, we felt like we were in a race. We plan on slowing down from now on - doing about 2-3 chapters a week. This is a much more realistic pace. It also would be a more user-friendly guide if the discussion questions for each section were organized chronologically apart from all the other discussion. Unless you're retired like I am, this guide takes a lot of time to go through, which the average person may not have. The ideas in the guide are interesting and useful, just not easy or time-efficient to follow.

Condition of book much better than expected. It looked new!
The book came in the expected time frame and in a fantastic condition. It stated "Used-Very Good" but looks more like new. Very pleased with the product and the seller.

It also has generated good conversation and a desire for further study
This is a very insightful study. We used it in Sunday School for a class of 25 adults. It has given clearer understanding to difficult issues for several class members. It also has generated good conversation and a desire for further study. We used the DVD and gave class members the option to buy the book. They found the study compelling and wanting time to reflect on the information presented. It ended up they all bought the book. The class members represent all points of view from conservative to liberal. No one was offended by the presentation although some were challenged by it. After completing this study the class was excited to begin a study of scripture.

Fast service for a great read!
This book is a fantastic for an individual Bible Study intro as well as for a group Bible Study. It decodes what is not only the obvious but also the hidden factors to look for in the different messages and constructs of the Bible. Adam Hamilton is an excellent theologian who writes in layman's language. No guessing, no multisyllabic wholy academia but brings and guides in basic metaphors, basic language of today.

Reading the Bible again for the first time
The title is appropriate. Hamilton looks at the big picture, only occasionally delving into an issue or a story in some detail. I found occasion contradictions between parts of the book which makes me wonder if he actually wrote it or if it was a collection of sermons that he edited and combined. Even if this is the case it is a good read. I recommend it whether you've studied the Bible for years or are struggling as a beginner.

Solid Bible study to promote discussion
Solid approach to reading scripture and taking scripture seriously. Will help people think about scripture in a more meaningful way. Some of the issues are addressed a little less in depth than I would like, but good for a group to go through and for creating discussion.
