NLT uses contemporary English, and lists the original translation for modified terms and phrases at the bottom of the page. It's written to maxmize understanding of the scriptures for modern day people, especially ones who don't have extensive knowledge of The Bible and society in that region and time. I have many translations, but this is my daily. I'm a new Christian, accepting the Lord late in my life. I have many translations, but this is the one I can read without relying on study notes to frequently decipher the author's words. With other translations, it's distracting to me to have to look up words and phrases so often. This NLT New Testament contains brief notes regarding daily life and spiritual life written by pastor Greg Laurie. He has a gift for getting a message across just as plainly as if we were having a face to face convo. The notes are placed about every 3-5 pages, not excessive. This New Testament was originally given to me as a gift, and I bought another one for travel. It's made with regular paperback book paper, not the typical "translucent" paper used in regular bibles, so reading it is easy on the eyes.

I can rave about this bible for the rest of my life! I bought it for my husband who didn’t know anything about Jesus and what it means to be a follower of Christ and this Bible led him to changing his life/ habits and understanding more than I ever could have imagined. It’s full of explanations and word meanings. The context it gives really is so helpful. I thank God for this Bible!

I purchased one at a bookstore for a gift then ordered me this one and was so disappointed it only covered the New Testament, no Old Testament 🙃🙁
