It performed like promised
The first thing I did with this unit is try a dvd from another region and a bluray from another zone. The DVD did great without having to do anything to the player. After inserting a zone B bluray, I got the message that a zone B will not play in this player. I then booted the player just like the instructions said and it played fine. I was pleasantly surprised that once you play a bluray from another zone, you do not have to reboot the machine to go back to zone A. It switched zones by it'self. I went back and forth without having to power down. One little thing you have to watch for. If you insert a bluray from another zone and get the message that it will not play, you have to hit "stop" twice before removing the disc to boot up to another zone. If you don't, it will go to the same place in the disc and you will get the error again. Everything else on this player works great. I can stream netflix with no problem. The only weird thing with the network is I couldn't make it see the wired connection, but it works fine wireless. One other thing is , the player does not have a display but that doesn't matter to me. The video is awesome.

NOT Region Free
This is a good player with many options and amenities. However, I recently tried to play a Region 2 DVD and it would not recognize it. I did everything that was suggested by everyone, including resetting to the baseline and setting it up again for R2, but it simply wouldn't recognize the disc. Thought it was possibly a bad disc set so I put a disc in my previous player and it played immediately. Just a bit disappointing since I thought this would be an all around everything player. UPDATE: After continually being unable to play discs from other regions, and also seeing many artifacts, stutters, and freezes while playing R1 discs, I contacted LG and was told to send them the player so they could fix it. It has been well over a month now and no word from them. I have also reached out to them and asked for a simple update as to the status of the repair and still no word from them. At this point, I truly wish I had not spent the money on this player as I could have found something else that works and I would be able to watch the discs I bought specifically because this player was supposed to be able to play them. Incredibly disappointed. SECOND UPDATE: For the sake of fairness, I must say that the "missing" player was left at the wrong doorstep and was forgotten by the older woman who took it in a couple doors down from us. That said, LG should have answered the emails I sent to ask them where it was. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, the unit STILL DOES NOT PLAY MULTI-REGION DISCS!! They returned it with a "Repaired" notice on the box and it still doesn't work. What did they do with the player? So I wholeheartedly say, Do Not Buy This Player. I could have spent $100 less and gotten the same thing from another brand, that plays 4K HD. Now I have to get another player to play region free discs. Frustrated and disappointed and won't buy anything LG again. I truly hope your experience is a better one if you decide to take the plunge anyway.

A Bit Expensive but Worth Every Penny
I have dozens of region 2 DVDs that I could only play on my computer but now I can watch them on my 4KUHD TV. This is a fantastic player. You don't have to do a thing to play DVDs. It plays all DVD regions with no adjusting or entering codes. I plugged it in right out of the box and it played instantly. I played a region B blu ray with absolutely no problems. Not sure if this has "memory" for the disc but I set it for blu ray region B. It played the disc beautifully. Then I put in a region A and it played without my having to change the code. Just to test it, I put the region B disc back in and it played it perfectly without changing the code as per instructions. So maybe it "remembers" the disc? Don't know but really easy to use. I bought a cheap, supposedly region free, DVD player and the picture was grainy and the voice was always "off." This gives a clear picture and great sound. Highly recommend.

Price value
There was a time, when you could buy bluray players factory region free out of the box, like the Philips. Nowadays its only possible with modified players. The risk, that you buy a player where you know the remote codes to make it region free and not managing it because the manufacturer has changed the way to do so, is high and it happens constantly. So it is a better idea to buy a modified one. In the country I live (Peru) there is no possibility to buy original blurays, so you buy a US one if it is doubled in Spanish or you buy one in Spain. So you already have to manage two different regions. This player is doing a good job, even if you have to make the bluray region change manually. This is a little bit annoying when it comes to “user friendly” but there is no way around. The DVDs are region free by default. Resolution is good and so is the sound. LG could have spent a little more in details like a display etc., because this player is everything else than cheap. But overall, I would give 4 stars.

Super! Performed exactly as claimed.
Yes, I finally got fed up with out of region DVDs that I could not play. Had one , a BBC production, region 2, could not watch in the Sony that claimed to be region free but was not. Plugged this machine in, attached HDMI cord, put in DVD....it played perfectly and picture looked great on my 4k LG TV. The only slight annoyance, easily remedied, was that this player is HD color capable as is my TV. So it set itself to that. This supplies highly saturated color that video game Millennials apparently think is real. It was easy to turn off but that was done on my TV not the DVD player. highly recommended, one other thing that was a bit strange was that the player arrived without being packed inside another outer box. There was evidence, as usual, of it being tossed around, box corners damaged etc. But, the machine was fine anyway.

Plays multi region bluray, 4k and 3d well but with some minor issues
Plays 4k, 3d, and multi region bluray conveniently. Picture is pretty good but not as good as my Sony x800m2. Buttons on the player can sometimes be unresponsive and have to be pushed multiple times(eject button). Remote works fine. For the extra cost to play multi region discs and given the picture quality compared to the sony, this was a bit overpriced at around $280. It’d be more worth it for around $240 or less. Also, it arrived in it’s box all banged up with no outer protective box or packaging. It had a previous shipping label from Walmart to someone else. Item was listed as new so i don’t know what the deal is. Appears to be a player that someone buys new then modifies for multi region playing and then resells. Anyway, works well enough to keep. I’ll update if it doesn’t last at least 2 years.

Do not buy if you plan to play 4K only movies
Do not buy if you plan to play 4K only movies. It is the second BR I buy and have some playback issues. First it started with BLADE RUNNER 2049, the sequence with the microscope is not working on my player...I start to have digital hits on the screen, freezes, play, freeze.... I just bought PROMETHEUS, and after 45min sound comes in and out. There are no problems playing the 1080p versions, just the 4K ULTRA HD. So I am very unhappy!! Don't claim you can play ULTRA HD discs if you build a cheap player with decoding processor that sucks!!! Note: Also very annoying, the player turns on on it's own and hijacks your TV. To be fair when I saw the price I was suspicious...here we go...I was right to be suspicious!

Stopped switching regions after 2 years
It was working great for 2 years then all of a sudden it will not switch regions anymore. You switch regions by holding the 1, 2 or 3 buttons (depending on what region) until the player turns on. Well I'm stuck on region 2 and it will not switch over at all. The buttons work for every other function and I even unplugged it to see if it would reset and it didn't. Seems like a software issue.
