This is great and easy to use. Just drop into the bottom of a pot and not even pasta will boil over. Washes easily in the dishwasher.

I was hoping this would work a bit better than it does. It really is on the quiet side and sometimes doesn't seem to work at all if I put it in a pot of milk I need to scald and not boil. It has worked a few times with milk but generally I find I need to watch the pot pretty closely or the milk will boil before I can take it off the heat. I think the shape just isn't as good as the glass and ceramic ones we have.

If you have a chance to obtain raw (farm fresh) cow milk, this is a must. You have to boil the milk before use, and if you have ever done that, you know that there is a very fine line (literally seconds) in between milk being "almost ready" and boiling over, making a mess and ruining the taste. With this you can go and do other things around the house, since when milk starts to boil, it will prevent it from boiling out (and burning), plus it will emit a light clanking sound, almost acting as a alarm. There is also a glass version of it, but they can break or chip (ending with glass shards in your milk), so I decided to try this one. Cleaning is also a breeze. Very pleased.
