A very broad and useful re-introduction to Office for those who already use it daily
This book covers a *lot* of territory and is well written. It provides many tips and identifies many potential traps, and, if you get the Kindle version as I did, is readily searchable. The reason I did not give it five stars is that from time to time there really was an opportunity to go into greater depth ("inside out" is in the title) but the authors basically announced they were not going to do that. In particular, they did not go over all of the search keywords available in Outlook, which was a bit disappointing since effective search in Outlook really depends on learning to use these well. But, again, this is a book that its well worth the money for people who are not rank amateurs at Office but who do need to do more.

Great "How to do" but lacks in "What to do".
An extremely useful tome on how to do things in Microsoft Office 2013. Where it falls a bit short is when and why one should do certain things. I'm writing and multi-chapter document with many figures, and have struggled with how to treat both figures and figure captions. I would really like some advice from the experts who wrote this guide on what procedures they used that will help me with my project. There are so many options, for example for figures (in-line, and various types of word wrap) and Captions (text and text box) that a practical approach would be much appreciated. I have had problems with the automatic figure numbers coming out wrong and don't know why.

Excellent
This is better than I hoped for in searching for a comprehensive guide to the new MS Office. Although I have used Office for years, I know just enough to be dangerous, and wanted to become well versed in all the functions. I have read much that Microsoft has to say on the subject, watched Youtube videos, taken Lynda's online courses, and still feel like I've missed a lot. This book is very thorough (several inches thick), and I really like the tone in which it is written. It is not a "Dummies" book, which has always offended me. I'm only part way through it, but am enjoying the process. I've been looking a long time for something like this, and am glad to have found it. Highly recommended.

Get a good start on Office 2013 here.
Great overview of Office 2013. You will find many answers to how to begin using Office 2013. Not every detail is in this book about all the application programs which you will find in the books on the individual programs. However, you can also use this reference to help you deicide if you can use the features of an application such as Access. What this book has that is not as prominent in the others is help in installing, basic commonalities of the Office suite, "Cloud" resources, OneNote, Publisher and Lync. Also it has info on the subscription form of Office 365.

Hasn't helped me yet with Windows 8
I just got Windows 8 and to say I totally dislike it is an understatment. So I bought the book and it's a biggy. The first thing I looked up to see how to do it in 8 was not there. I spent over an hour going through the index hoping something would pop up there that would lead me to where the answer was, but that didn't happen. When I have more time, I'll go through it some more and hopefully learn to at least use Windows 8 better, but I'm sure I won't ever be happy with this.

If you use Microsoft Office 2013 or 365, you need this book NOW
The definitive guide to pretty much every edition of Office 365 up to now, by the smartest, sanest, most trustworthy guide in the Window-verse. There are only a couple-three Office Masters in Ed's league, and I'm gonna guess even these sages bow to Mr. Bott. I have yet to submit a problem that Ed's amazing compendium couldn't solve, and it makes me more productive every time I take a ten-minute dive.

Good read and reference!
Very informative book on MS Office 2013, as well as a good desk reference to look up areas of interest. I like the Kindle addition because it is easier to look at on my laptop anywhere I have a connection.

Microsoft Office 2013 "Inside Out"
This is a very good reference book. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 since I thought it could have gone into more detail in certain areas. It is still an excellent reference.

Great for the small business
We have just moved to 365 replacing an ageing SBS 2003 R2 in the process. As office 365 is so new we wanted to get the most out of the features plus our IT support company were lagging behind on office 365 and what it could do.We have only just got this but it seems well laid and informative, in the past we have used the dummys guides which have been very good but the 365 one got a pounding so we got this instead. We have ordered a second copy today!

Intended for experienced/proficient users of earlier versions only.
I bought this hoping it was an in-depth step by step guide to Microsoft Office. However, on receiving it the introduction makes clear this book is for those already proficient in the earlier version of Microsoft Office. It simply points out the similarities comparing them to the new version to assist you to make the transition to the updated version hassle free. I only have a basic know how of the 2003 version and was hoping and expecting (due to the title) that this was a thorough step by step guide that i could master it without having to learn earlier versions. Please be aware of this when buying it.Just to mention, i can't otherwise comment as to how good or useful this book is to the experienced user of earlier editions.

Accidentally ordered instead of excel its office but good to have it
Accidentally ordered instead of excel its office but good to have it. It is somehow a marketing for office 365 also. Coverage of topics are nice but without office 2013 not clicking
