These chisels seem ok for the price. Tho box on the other hand instantly fell apart into 10 pieces. The chisels are not sharp, so expect to sharpen them.

Many tools here say if they come sharp or or not. For those just starting out, some high quality tools are not final sharpened so that you can put the edge you desire at purchase. If you're new and do not know how to sharpen the tools you are buying please find someone or watch a video on the subject and add any sharpening items with your purchase. I decided to try out my new mini lathe with these knives. I had several wood species to choose from but decided to give it a real test. I took a piece of Red Eucalyptus from the firewood and milled it down to the size for pen blanks. Eucalyptus hits somewhere in the 1400's on the Janka scale. That's harder than most domestic wood in the US. Then I took the bad end of one piece and cut it down using these knives to build a push tool for assembling the pens. I tried out every knife in the kit, played with them a little and worked the eucalyptus down. As you can see, the project turned out well. Since I am using a mini-lathe, the small size of the knives worked as an advantage for me. They handled well and were very sharp. I will soon be turning pens. I hope to update this post in the near future with a Eucalyptus pen having been completed. The product arrived much earlier than projected. I was glad of that. The box was damaged in shipping. But, I didn't buy these for the box. Thanks for reading, Joe T.

Don't even think about it! These chisels are not inexpensive, they are CHEAP. Got these for a Christmas present from my wife, sharpened up a couple of them and did not have the skew in the wood for more than 10 seconds and it was dull. So I went back to the grinder touched it up a bit more, thinking maybe I didn't get into the metal far enough to hold and edge, ( I know crazy thought, all the metal should hold an edge) this also failed. Sharpened the wide gouge and as soon as the chisel touched the wood it took a small piece of metal out of the edge of the gouge, this is were I gave up. Sent them back for a refund, didn't even consider a replacement, once I realized how much these cost I started laughing, all 8 of these cost less than my cheepiest wood turning chisel ($80) and that's not the best quality chisel, but it works well. All in all, don't waste your time or money, the handles are not long enough, the metal is very low quality just an all around bad tool, and the price is the tip off. Would not recommend, not even to a young person just starting, these would end their woodworking career instantly.

Wouldn't recommend if you use them every day, they dull quickly., but if you are a retired, part time doodler like me, they are okay.

The chisels are short, the steel is indifferent and doesn't remain sharp, and the tools break easily. I bought it because I like the Vevor brand, but they need to bite the bullet and either make a good midrange high-speed steel product or get out of the business.
