Worked great for a long road trip and kept everything dry
This cargo bag worked great for our trip. We drove about 1,800 miles and used it on our RAV4 XLE. The car has raised side rails, so I installed crossbars first. I was initially worried because there isn’t much information about using this bag with just crossbars, but it worked fine with the included buckles. The buckles are plastic, so for extra security I also added two cam buckle straps just to be safe. We were driving around 70 mph on the highway and it stayed secure. During our four-day trip it rained for two days, and no water got inside at all. It’s also a good bundle because it includes the non-slip mat to protect the roof and help keep the bag in place. Overall it’s a good bag that held up well, and I would recommend it for road trips.

Worked perfect until….
UPDATE 2: 8/2/21 Just received the replacement in the mail today. It is in perfect condition and in time for my trip. This process was completely pain-free and ultimately would have taken just a few days had I checked and replied to my messages in a more timely manner. It took a total of 5 days from the time the request for my replacement was put in by the agent and I received it today. I couldn't be happier with the customer service and this alone gets 5 stars, but I also know the product is of great quality and I'm going to chalk the damage up to the first one a fluke. UPDATE: 7/30/21 Their customer service is top-notch! They replied the same day I reached out to them and are sending out a replacement. It took longer on my part because I forgot to check my messages but when I replied, they immediately responded the same day. Definitely going from the two stars to four and I will be more than happy to add the fifth after I receive it, hopefully in time for my return trip. I got this last year in September of 2020 for an unexpected trip across the country. It performed flawlessly. It was super easy to install on my SUV, it fended off rain, ice, and snow perfectly, the material used is of good quality and the straps provided are good. It seems this carrier is perfect! Unfortunately, this didn’t turn out to be the case. This last time I had to take yet another cross-country trip. It would be the third trip with this carrier and literally in the middle of the trip, we noticed it had a gaping hole in the corner where it had ripped at the seams. The pics were taken at the rest stop where it was noticed. I usually wait a while to do reviews on something so I can get some usage on them and this is why. It hasn’t been a year yet and only 3 uses before it was rendered useless. We were also on a time crunch so this was not helpful, especially since we were headed toward a lot of heavy rain. After hours of trying to repair it and a lot of Gorilla tape, we were able to be on our way. I’ve reached out to customer service and hopefully I will be able to update their response soon.

Extremely high quality and amazing customer support!
The quality of this rooftop carrier is top of the line. The zipper is very heavy duty and high quality, the secondary Velcro closure is very strong and more than adequate. The material is very thick and water resistant. I’ve only used it a couple times, but after 5 years (stored most of the time in a hot Florida garage) it still looks as good as it did the day I initially unpacked it! Amazing. To top off the high quality of the carrier. If that’s even possible, was the outstanding customer support. I contacted Mockins, after 5 years of ownership, and informed them that I had misplaced the car hook attachments - without any hesitation the customer support specialist confirmed my address and informed me that I would be receiving a replacement set in the mail. 3 days later they were at my door. You do not see this high level of product quality AND an even higher level of customer service anywhere. Absolutely second to none!!

Positive review
As I write this review the rack has been assembled and currently installing the roof rails that directly mount to the vehicle. The rack that upon delivery contained the entirety of it's listed invoice. The tubing of rack did have a scratch and bendt at the connection end. it was repaired with a handle of my rachet to remold the opening. This was due to mishandling during shipping. The unit itself is glossy black, with deep 6 inch side railing which makes it look substantial and utilitarian. It is large but not heavy. the hardware is simple. While this may be a one time purchase I would recommend this product and with proper use be a good accessory for my vehicle that will come in handy for someone that travels a few times a year.

Good purchase, great experience and awesome Cust. Serv.
I bought this product for a road trip. We drove 1500 miles on an average of 70 to 85 mph. We got heavy rain for 2 days and no water inside ar all!!! No complaints. It is sturdy and very spacious. Easy to manage and the zippers are smooth. My only bad experience was that one of the straps began to unravel within the first 30 minutes of being on the road. It continued to unravel until I tighten the end. It is frustating that this happen on a brand new product however, everythingelse was good. Therefore, I rate with a 4☆. I will be more than happy to increase to 5☆ if they replace the strap. I will be back with more feedback. The easy part was done, make my beleive in the product and the warranty, lets see if they stand behind it!. Updating this review. I called Mockins and in a breeze they asked me for my order ID. She asked me what happened and upon explaining her she asked me to email her my contact info and with no more to do she mailed me a whole set of traps. I received it within a week. They exceeded my expectations. I will trust their products as they backup their warranty.

Full price for a used or badly packed item???
Actual construction and quality ok including paint. However, I paid full price for either a used and returned item or packaging was inadequate and it had multiple scrapes, bent bars and dirt on items.

Good for light use. We’ll prices.
I got pretty much what I expected after reading other reviews. Assembly was fairly straight forward. Low information instructions, with low attention to detail. but I could figure it out. No information on really how to attach the “attachment plate” and orient the bolt and the washer/nut stack. Always put the flat washer against the material surface and the lock washer between the flat washer and the nut for best retention - the preassembled stack was backwards of course. Some bending of tubes to get stuff to line up, but surprisingly I didn’t have to fight tolerance on hole placements to get bolts thru considering the over constrained design. Most of the little plastic end caps on the open tube ends were rattling around in the bottom of the box - assuming they were protective covers for shipping I pulled the others off. Then I read another review about these open tube ends letting in water and snagging on stored objects, then it dawned on me to put them back as they might be part of the design! These same open ends are not well lined up and look kind of bad. I don’t imagine I want to put heavy loads on the center section as it is completely unsupported and floating. Definitely a low quality design with cheap manufacturing methods. The paint is already flaking, exposing rusted surfaces, and as you manipulate the individual sections a cloud or red rust dust will fall out from the tubes. I’ll likely scrape off any loose paint and slather it up with rustoleum or something. The connector plates do almost nothing structurally. Under bolt compression I suppose they provide line contact, but over time they will bend away and lose that. I think they’re really a cosmetic cover for the ugly bolt and nut stack, that could have looked better if they used black oxide fasteners. Or they could have used less visible threaded inserts. But whatever. I’m not looking forward to taking this thing on and off. 20 pieces for the fastener mechanism to keep track of, drop and lose, and lots of hand tightening of hand nuts to deal with the excessively long u-bolts for my cross bars. I plopped it onto my 2019 RAV4 with factory cross bars, and it seems to fit. The cross bar spacing doesn’t quite line up between the gaps in the basket bars, so the front or rear will probably be tilted. I don’t love that the metal of the basket makes contact with the cross bars in multiple places as this can cause wear from vibration and thermal distortion. But hey, this is my first roof basket and it was well priced and will probably do the job when I need to plop (and strap) my kids bike and a few bulky items into it a few times a year. I haven’t bothered to try the bag or net yet.

Easy to install. Holds a lot!
Easy to install. I’m a hockey mom and it was great for carrying gear for our goalie and skater. That’s 2 giant bags and several sticks. The aerodynamic design makes it hardly noticeable when you drive with items on top and not noticeable at all when it’s empty. It really helps traveling for sports so much easier!
