Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Roll Back Global Warming

The authors due not gloss over the potential looming disaster that climate change represents.They do present a granular analysis of the muliple causes of climate change and potential solutions and mitigations. It is informative, empowering and ultimately hopeful. I learned loads and was particularly struck by the many win/win solutions that can reduce emissions, improve biodiversity, improve the lives of poor communities and/or save money over all. Potentially a book to inform the diference any one can make through life style changes, giving money and campaigning. Also a very good book for young adults or students thinking about career and other life choices.

I love this book. The authors painstakingly compiled research to identify and quantify the impacts of the top 100 solutions to not only stop climate change, but to go beyond and reverse it. Hugely optimistic and ambitious, but grounded in reality. They made a huge effort to err on the conservative side with their projections of the future. The best bit? - Contained within this book is a blueprint to stop and reverse global warming in the next 30 years. Using EXISTING technology. Now we need the political will to make it happen.

A really impressive study of the potential approaches to reducing CO2 in the atmosphere. It provides an analysis of the impact of rolling out 80 technologies that are already commercially viable, plus estimates for 20 technologies in development. Each technology gets a double page with a description, an estimate of the cost, the payback and the amount of CO2 it could remove from the atmosphere if widely used. Not a book for reading cover to cover, but as a reference to what could be achieved and a resource for debating with the sceptical, this is the best hing out there by far at the moment.

A useful contribution to a necessary debate. The fossil fuel industry received more than $5.3 trillion in subsidies in 2015 alone. US wind-energy industries have received just $12.3 billion since 2000. Refrigerant recovery, reforestation, educating girls, installing microgrids, expanding geothermal power, solar farms, wind turbines, reducing food waste, and a plant-rich diet are just some of the proposals.

A very thorough round up of things that can be done to help reverse global warming. Hope is very welcome in these days which are beginning to feel pre-apocalyptic. I will be recommending this to all the ecologically minded groups I belong to.

So much literature on global warming is focused on the catastrophic and apocalyptic consequences of our actions. This book flips it to what we can do, and gives hope for the future through some science based, tangible, realistic improvements which can help secure our future on this planet. This book isn’t for tree huggers, it’s for anyone who has a stake in humanity sticking around in a habitable world for the long term. 10/10

It is comprehensive and highly professional, covering the 100 most important ways to combat climate change, but was written 5 years ago; some areas have advanced significantly in the last five years.

This has a lot of ideas, but they aren't as well defended as I'd hoped. Instead it has a lot of pretty pictures, so this turned out to be a coffee table book more than anything.

The book a wide range of topics, but if you are deep into one topic there is not much for you here. It gives you an impression of what else is important, which makes the book worth its money. You get a wider perspective of the catastrophe

A positive, solution-based read on how to solve the climate emergency. Each chapter is a solution, is easy to read and is informative. The charts in the back are my favourite section - they show the 100 solutions, the Co2 emissions we can save and the cost savings to bring us to drawdown. Lots of work to do but we can do this!
