Seven Worlds, One Planet [4k] [Blu-Ray] [2019] [4K UHD]

Awesome. Just as expected

I bought this as a Christmas present for my guy, who is a big fan of nature documentaries. He loved it, and actually, so did I, despite the fact I'm not as big a fan of such docs. Some episodes were better than others because they had a more interesting, less typical focus. For instance, in the Africa episode, I didn't really need to see more footage of chimps using tools, even if the chimps looked more attractive on a 4K-based blu-ray. (All was forgiven, though, as coverage moved to Namibia and the Kalahari—fantastic camerawork & content that seemed new and fresh.) My favorite episode dealt with Antartica, as I learned a lot from it. I had no idea so many whales had been "processed" there, at whaling stations. The remnants of one of those still remains, in ruins, and its history broke my heart, as did the info on the threat of Climate Change to the continent. I did not see any of this as remotely political. These are the facts, and there is an ethical necessity to acknowledge them—at least if we love the earth, and nature and its creatures. There is also a professional obligation for naturalists not to ignore them. We must understand what we're risking if Climate Change continues unabated, and no amount of making pretty the situation and omitting the risks and current effects can be justified in natural-science documentaries such as this. I think the right balance was struck by Sir Attenborough.

Great Bluray.

Holy Cow, this is by far the best looking 4K blu-ray disc I've ever played...and I own 70+ 4k blu-ray movies! It's not even close. It beats out Blue Plant II, Plant Earth II, Blade Runner: 2049, Dynasties, Mad Max: Fury Road, IMAX: A Beautiful Planet, & IMAX: National Park Adventures. I feel like these animals are right in front of you in your living room...I just want to reach out and touch them. Everything is really that realistic...powerful HD cameras capture animals and scenery like never before. Stunning detail in every scene, not just some of the scenes as the above mentioned movies. When you play this movie, You will now be amazed at what the World of 4K is really capable of producing. If you want to show off your new 4K HDTV, then this is your go-to demo disc :)

Anything by David Attenborough is sublime.

First of all the case the disks are sent is made of cheap plastic, half the times they arrive broken. Original order received case totally broken, replacement order had inner leaves broken, have no more patience to deal with Amazon returns so kept it as is. Next the content, Disk 1 is made very interesting and exciting. As the number increases the interest is lost, couldn't keep up with content. Definitely this has better visuals especially on live captures compared to BBC previous releases. Last don't ever call Amzon customer support for help rather choose the option to return and replace. Support from the reps outside the USA and India especially LATAM is hopeless.

Incredible series especially in Ultra high def 4K. Stunning series and just incredible footage captured for our viewing pleasure. I almost didn't purchase based on the negative reviews about the narrator David Attenborough talking so much about climate change and humans being responsible for the decline of different species, etc.. I'm glad I purchased regardless of the few times he brought up those subjects. To me he is just super passionate bout wildlife. We had another couple over to watch the series and all loved it. The camera personnel did an incredible job capturing some unbelievable footage. The night vision cameras, WOW, just fantastic. Watched on our LG 77" OLED and felt like we were there in the scenes it self. If you're sensitive to hear about climate change or the history/facts that humans nearly wiped out the whale population then do yourself a favor and mute the program so you don't miss the wonderful scenes from around the world. Not be missed if you like nature.

I am nature documentary lover and have collected every single documentary BBC has produced. When original “Blue Planet” premiered in 2001, it was the most expensive nature documentary series ever made exploring planet’s oceans. It was brainchild of filmmaker Alastair Fothergill who convinced BBC to spend $10 millions. The investment paid off and drawn huge number of viewers to the series. BBC’s natural History Unit then followed it up with Planet Earth—an even more ambitious and more successful show that became blockbuster. More shows then followed - Life, Frozen Planet, Africa, Life Story, The Hunt, Planet Earth II, Blue Planet II and now Seven Worlds, One Planet. While “Planet Earth II” followed “Planet Earth” by a decade, “The Blue Planet,” the original instalment of the BBC NHU’s documentaries, debuted almost 20 years ago. Needless to say, the technology available to filmmakers covering the natural world has made leaps and bounds since then and Blue Planet II was another staggering visual accomplishment, following on the heels of 'Planet Earth II. When I saw Planet Earth II few years ago year, I thought that BBC’s Natural History Unit has perfected art of perfect natural documentary. Seven Worlds, One Planet proved me wrong and it surpassed their own standard of excellence. This documentary is simply breathtaking, moving and gorgeous. This series is divided in 7 episodes - title refers to earth’s seven continents, each of which gets an episode. This set includes 6 discs - 3 UHD 4K (2160p/ Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1) and 3 Blue-ray discs (1080p/Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1). The sound quality is amazing. Series showcases diversity of each of seven continents and what makes them unique. Series was filmed across 41 countries including Canada with a crew of 1,500 and over 1794 filming days. The series reveals new astonishing creatures and new extraordinary animal behaviours and filming animals like polar bears, sharks and the last northern white rhinos on earth, to name a few. The golden-haired, blue-faced, snub-nosed snow monkey one of the stars in the Asia episode. This series engages viewers both emotionally and intellectually and only thing I can say is you would not be the same after watching. Not only showcases how astonishing and wonderful these continents are, but also shows how they integrate with each other and how human footprint affects our wonderful planet and animals. Sir David Attenborough, at age of 93 continues to be a marvel and still giving us such a nice documentaries and narration. There is no one like Sir David Attenborough for narrating nature documentaries; with his signature style British wit. Overall this series is about magnificent and jaw-dropping visuals, David Attenborough’s remarkable, warm, intelligent voice. Seven Worlds, One Planet takes nature documentary making to another level. It has implied but clear message to all of us - stop wasting resources, stop polluting the plant and care for nature and animals. This series differentiates itself from past documentaries by addressing human depredations — climate change, deforestation, predation — more directly than in the past. The BBC Natural History Unit has really outdone itself. This documentary is a truly sublime accomplishment, an epic achievement that everyone should watch.

Excellent documentary narrated by David Attenborough per continent... Does not attempt to cover too much but good for what it does. Filming quality is very pleasing. Different content to the audiobook which is more producer comments (very good nonetheless).
