Dense and satisfying, they get the job done. They also taste ok, but very different from what I was expecting. As a musician, I've found myself scarfing down a 7-11 sandwich and a Gatorade between gigs - I'd much rather enjoy a couple of these (and at $1.33 apiece, it would also be cheaper). The texture is nothing like Cliff, Quest, or Luna bars... it's more dry. Crumbly. I don't have much experience with survival food, but I don't think the aforementioned are really that. This is not a protein bar, and for energy/survival that makes sense. I've tried to use Cliff bars as meal replacements rushing from gig to gig, and they don't do the trick. These though, they are much better. They don't taste as much like candy, but they certainly don't taste bad, and they don't leave an aftertaste like some other bars. Somewhere between a cookie and a cracker, with a light fruit flavor that doesn't seem artificial, and which is only just strong enough to give you the idea of the fruit. If you're like me, and not really intending to use them as an emergency food, I think they're great and much better than 'protein bars' for just supplemental energy during a busy day. They last a really long time (5 years from inception, or 4+ from the time you get them - still pretty incredible). They don't taste bad, like a 7-11 sandwich can, they're not expensive if you compare the calorie content to say, fast food (for example, a McChicken contains 360 calories and costs $1.30... and while I think it tastes good, it can be somewhat inconvenient with the lettuce and mayo to spill, and you have to find a McDonalds, and so on... versus a Millennium Bar in your pocket, and done. Plus, the calories are divided up differently (eg, not estimated from mayonnaise, or protein heavy), and without going into the science of it, such that you feel better after the Millennium Bar). The one thing, which has nothing to do with the quality of the product, that I was mildly disappointed about was this: The picture clearly depicts a cherry flavor. I got 6 of 6 different flavors, but none of them was cherry. I understand this. 36 divides by 6 easily, and if you have 9 or 10 flavors, what do you do? I actually appreciate the fact that I got an even distribution of flavors, but if there's anything at all I would change it would be the flavors, not because they're bad, but because I wanted to try the ones in the picture... no big deal, but be aware.

Excellent Food Bars for Emergencies
I ordered these for our emergency car kits as well as our 72-hour Bug out Bags. Our family eats primarily a raw vegan diet, but after realizing that in an emergency it would be very difficult to find fresh raw food, I ultimately decided to use these bars for our kits. Also a bar is easier to eat then boiling water for dehydrated food. The fact that these bars last for 5 years and can withstand the heat and cold of the car was very appealing. These are not going to be the healthiest type of foods, but they do provide essential calories in emergency situations. I do not intend to eat them unless there is an emergency because of my personal diet. I have ordered the Millennium bars a number of times as we have built out our emergency bags. We have younger children. One day I found that most of the bars were missing from our 72-hour kits. This became an opportunity to explain to our children why we have 72-hour kits and of the importance of food being in the kits in times of emergencies. Consequently, I can report that our children really enjoyed the bars. Recently we were travelling and they became hungry so we decided to see how satisfied they would be just eating the bars. In a period of 8 hours they had 3 each and really like them. I really like how well packaged these bars are, in single meal sizes, and that there are different flavors. I have tried Mainstay Food rations, but found they were not properly sealed and had to return them. We also have some Datrix food ration bars which are probably on the same order as these, but are in a single brick for the day. I prefer the individual sealed portions, but that is just a personal preference. These are excellent food ration bars for emergencies. If I were hiking I would choose healthier bars to eat, but those types of bars don't last that long especially with the hot and cold temperatures in the car. That is why these are perfect in a car emergency bag.

Exactly as promised and perfect for what they are intended
These are great for their intended purpose. A single bar prevents hunger for a few hours certainly. Obviously you would not want to live off of these for more than a few days in an emergency situation. You could pair the bars with a decent multivitamin and stretch that out a little. The bars are inexpensive when compared to similar products and seem like they would probably keep beyond the promised 5 years. Now, the texture is very odd. It is very similar to a graham cracker pie crust but much thicker. It does not make you thirsty as you would expect when you take your first bit. It is very crumbly so expect to lose a little that you have to brush off of your shirt. I expect with the consistency, it could be mixed with water and make a porridge. the bars come in different flavors but have just enough flavor to notice it has a flavor but not enough for it to matter which flavor you choose.
