Mushroom / Egg Slicer with Blades

Nice heavy duty slicer in all metal

I bought this product five years ago to slice fresh mushrooms. It worked flawlessly until recently when one of the blades broke. It’s a little bit pricey, but well worth it for the convenience of being able to slice those large, fresh mushrooms a lot faster, and safer than I can do it by hand.

I purchased this product after being fed up with fixing the wires of my previous slicer. I use this tool for slicing eggs, strawberries, mushrooms, kiwi...so I wanted one that had strong solid metal blades. That is what I thought this was. While it has solid, metal blades instead of wires, I found the blades to be slightly flimsy. It cuts eggs and cooked beets well, but mushrooms and firmer fruits are harder to cut and can bend the blades. Stronger blades would be nice. But it does the trick for now and is easy to use and clean.

Cutting blade broke on first use (mushrooms). Ease of cleaning: didn't bother cleaning it just placed in trash can so 3 stars. Easy to use: won't do the task if blades are easily broken so 1 star. Sturdy: not hardly so 1 star. Didn't bother with return as it was just a small item... and, honestly, not even worth the time writing a review. Product not recommended.

My son broke our previously reliable wire egg slicer trying to slice strawberries. For a long time, I have wanted a slicer with blades that could deal with eggs, mushrooms, and strawberries without having to buy, wash, and store multiple kitchen gadgets. You know the drill. I happened upon this one: good reviews, dishwasher safe, stainless steel blades and figured it would be a good purchase. Just got it today, in fact. Pot-metal frame, but that's okay since slicing eggs won't exactly test the structural integrity too badly. A couple of times a week, my wife like to head to the gym or whatever, and will eat rather late. She absolutely loves a good Cobb Salad, so it was time to boil a few eggs. This slicer absolutely destroyed the egg, turning the yolk into mashed-potato mess, and shredding the white almost beyond usability and recognition. Lots of egg was stuck in between the blades that I had to poke out with a knife and brush. Abject failure! The only reason I am not returning it is I want to see how it works with the aforementioned strawberries and shrooms. In any event, looks like I'm doomed to have two slicers in an already-crowded gadget drawer. I'm running it through the dishwasher tonight, though, and if there's any damage, it's going straight back to Amazon. Edit: As bad as this thing is for eggs, it is terrific at slicing mushrooms and strawberries, so it gets an upgrade to three stars. In fact, with shrooms and berries, it gets 5. So I split the difference.

Love this thing. This product and I goes way back when I was working in the restaurant industry. I can't remember how many crappy wired slicers were broken after just a few use and I had to replace them, but this one, despite being pricier, is reliable and something I can always trust.

The slicers that are on the market are created with what appears to be a thin wire, which is fine if you are only working on eggs. This slicer is highly recommended because we have used this with eggs, mushrooms, strawberries, olives, etc. I purchased this as a replacement from my last one (it was over 15 years old) and the only reason I had to replace it was because my husband used it on something and bent the blade. This slicer is extremely durable — it may be more expensive than some of the other ones on the market, HOWEVER, this is made to last. We use this slicer a lot!

Best Egg Slicer ever! I've gone through quite a few of the wire type egg slicers. They work find for a little while but the wires invariably break and into the garbage it goes. I searched and searched for a better alternative and this is it! No wires, nice thin blades instead. The only problem is, I wish it was a little larger because our Extra Large eggs don't quite fit. Going to have to switch to Large eggs. Oh well, better for us anyway. Could they or do they make a larger one? I'll have to ask or search. Highly recommend this over any wire egg slicer!
