I run my professional tax program on my PC can I put  on this on  an external drive and then connect and run on the asus? Thanks Cathy K

No, it won't be able to run on the ASUS. Although the ASUS is a great tablet, it is nothing more than a Kindle Fire on steroids. It does not support Adobe Flash or reader and you can not run any windows software on it. You can download Apps from the windows store but they are limited. Because it is windows based (NOT full version) it won't run android apps (such as those you would put on your kindle). The Surface is the same, Windows 8 RT. I ended up buying an Acer Iconia W700. It is a full Windows 8- the pros and cons- it is bigger then the "norm" tablet of 10.1 inches. It is 11.6, giving you a bigger view of the screen items. It supports Adobe Flash and Reader, but you have to download and install a new version. It is portable but if you want to use it like you would a laptop, you need to buy an external Hard drive ($50-$150 for a decent one) an external CD/DVD reader/writer ($50) a extention with extra ports ($15) a wireless mouse ($10 - $30) a case to carry it all in ($50). In order to use any external device you MUST be plugged in. I am able (with TeamView) to access my desktop at home from anywhere. I am able to print at home to my e-printer from anywhere, it picks up any local wifi without any trouble. If your looking for portability and laptop useage its great. A small laptop with built in CD/DVD would work with less ancillary "parts" to loose and/or forget or leave behind.

do you have to get the keyboard through ASUS or can other after market brands work with it?

Yes you can use other keyboards. I suggest you go to a Microsoft store if there is one nearby and check out the keyboards they have. Any keyboard that has USB or Bluetooth connectivity should work. However, as Mari points out, there are some advantages to using the ASUS keyboard, namely screen protection and extra battery life

CAN I WATCH NETFLIX

Yes!  In fact, the Netflix app for Windows 8 RT works extremely well in general and on this tablet in paticular.  I like this version of the app better than the Android and iOS (iPad & iPhone) versions.  A lot of people have been very critical of Microsoft and their decision to make an RT version of Windows.  Obviously the full Windows 8 is more powerful (being able to run full Windows programs, not just apps), but my VivoTab RT is WAY more useful than my iPad and iPod Touch, especially since it comes with Microsoft Office.  Since getting my VivoTab RT over 18 months ago, I rarely touch my iPad 2.

what can make the touch screen fail if not broken or cracked?

I have no idea! I am not a guru, but it freezes up.... I have had a nightmare of a time getting things taken care of through the claims dept. My HP was sent in last year for repair (I had some keys sticking) HP not only fixed the sticking, but replaced my keys and I didn't ask or expect them to do it! HP is a better product in my book. They back their products and produce long lasting computer equipment!
