Holds to the lathe, gives good light and is very sturdy Update:it falls off if the lathe vibrates. I would look for one with a stronger magnet.

44 Leds Waterproof Magnetic Work Light With 19 inch Electroplated Gooseneck for Lathe Machine Tools Workbench Lighting is a grand addition to my wood lathe where light is of the essence. The magnets is STRONG when mounted to a steel plate - might need some explosives to take it off without turning the handle. Light level is just what I need for my lathe, drill press, even my band and table saws. The magnet makes the light mobile with just the flick of the handle. I do wonder, though, about the claim of being waterproof, and I'm not going to test it since it works on 120 VAC, enough to considerably shorten your life. Knocking of a star because of this unproven claim. Other than that, it is one dandy of a shop tool light.

A little pricy but well worth it. It is a very bright and sturdy, high quality light.

My reason for purchasing this light was to illuminate the workpiece during turning on my wood lathe, so my review is very specific to that application. The light is plenty bright enough for that purpose. The magnetic base is strong enough to hold the light securely in place in spite of the lathe's vibrations as long as it is attached to the flat surface of the bed of the lathe. When attached to the heavy curved-metal housing at the headstock or the curved side of the bed, however, the magnetic base tended to slip and required repositioning during use. Another small issue is caused by the gooseneck that connects the magnetic base and the light... it is very stiff and makes it difficult to make adjustments to the position of the light when its in use... many times I had to reposition the base to change the positioning of the light. So, for my application, its adequate but not the best choice.

The flex shaft is a little stiff but this is a great little unit. The mag base is strong enough to hold it to the lathe while turning which is a good thing lol.

Unfortunately, it started flickering within a couple months of using it a few times a week. It may have broken because it got wet but I specifically purchased this because it says it is IP66 waterproof. I don't know why it quit working but it was expensive and didn't last very long. I'd consider a different brand.

Normally don’t write product reviews but I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and the brightness and I wanted to share a few images to give people an idea as to how well lit my work area is with this magnetic LED lamp. I will say, as other reviewers pointed out, the magnet base needs to be attached to a thick flat piece of metal to hold well.

This is a great light, for the money. The magnet keeps it in place on my lathe and it is bright enough to illuminate the work adequately. The flexible neck allows good positioning and it holds it's place.

This thing is bigger than it looks. I only required a spot type light for my work on my grinder. This looks well built and it’s very bright. I sent it back because it was too big for my requirements. Good and solid though

Pretty cheap..... it works , good little work light , dont know how long it will last but so far so good..... magnet could be a bit stronger but it dose hold the light up. Cord is a little short and the fake on/off switch on the lamp end is a nice feature??? Red switch on the base works real good , smooth on / off action!!!

There was nothing that I did not like about this product. Excellent choice of LED Kelvin rating. Very strong goose neck - stays where you you set it.

Poor quality and looked like it had been used.
