Runs large and very warm
Great jacket but definitely runs on the larger size. Returned my 2x for a large and it fits perfectly. Material is strong and sturdy and zippers are tight and easy to slide. Plenty of pockets as well!

I love mine
The Carhartt Men's Loose Fit Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket is a rugged and reliable choice for anyone who needs a warm and durable jacket for work or outdoor activities. Its quality construction and functional design make it a top-notch investment. Pros: 1. Durable Material: The washed duck fabric is tough and built to withstand harsh conditions, making it ideal for outdoor work or rough environments. 2. Warm Insulation: The quilted lining provides excellent warmth without being too bulky, perfect for cold weather. 3. Comfortable Fit: The loose fit allows for easy movement and layering, making it practical for various activities. 4. Functional Design: Features a hood, rib-knit cuffs, and waistband to keep out the cold, plus deep pockets for added convenience. 5. Timeless Look: The classic Carhartt design combines functionality with a rugged style that never goes out of fashion. Cons: The jacket is heavy, which may not be ideal for those seeking a lightweight option. The loose fit might feel oversized for some; consider sizing down for a more tailored look. Overall ★★★★★ The Carhartt Men's Loose Fit Washed Duck Insulated Active Jacket is perfect for anyone who values durability, warmth, and classic style. It’s a go-to jacket for outdoor work, cold-weather adventures, or just braving winter comfortably. Highly recommended for hard workers and outdoor enthusiasts!

It’s a Carhartt — Warm, Tough, and Built Right
Honestly, it’s a Carhartt jacket. That pretty much says it all. This insulated active jacket is warm, heavy-duty, and feels like it’s going to last forever. The outer fabric is tough, the inside is cozy, and it has that classic workwear style that somehow looks good anywhere. I’ve worn a lot of jackets over the years, and this one just feels solid — like real gear, not just fashion. If you need something warm, durable, and reliable, this checks every box. Boom. Done.

Perfect fit / really warm
Bought this for my husband. Hes 6'6" 280lbs and he loves it! I got a 3x and it fits him perfectly and is long enough which is hard to find for him. He said its very comfortable has a lot of wiggle room to stretch as he works construction. Very good quality. Highly recommend! The only bummer is I ordered the green and I got gray but it worked out in the end.

Great Jacket
I bought this jacket to handle tough brush country foliage and windy conditions when riding in ATVs and boats on cool days. This jacket is perfect. Keeps the wind out and is warm enough for chilly but not frigid weather. The shell of the Washed Duck is still somewhat firm but quiet and flexible enough to be very comfortable. I am 5'11" and 165 pounds and this jacket fits me perfectly with enough room inside to wear a warm sweater/sweatshirt/flannel shirt underneath if I choose.

Runs large
It's a nice jacket. The sleeves extend past the cuffs a little so I can see them wearing out quickly. The lined pockets seem to be pretty warm. I ordered xl and it's bigger than a really wanted for a work coat. Probably should have gotten large but I'll keep it. Good but if you're between sizes I'd size down.

Even great for females. :)
I hate trying to buy women's coats, because they never fit correctly...especially if you have any type of a bust. I purchased this coat for myself, and I couldn't be happier! It zips up over my chest with plenty of room to spare, and of course it is a nice heavy, durable coat. (Carhartt is known for their quality, so that is no surprise!) I think it is a great value for the price, because I know it will last for many years to come. Comfy and heavy without being too bulky, it is just what I was looking for in a winter coat this year.

For over 20 years, I've been buying Carhartt WIP coats (WIP, or 'Work in Progress' is the European street wear company that has licensed the 'Carhartt' brand from the US workwear company since the mid 1990s), but the prices in the UK have increased so much recently (more so than in continental Europe e.g a £200 item costs only €199 (~£165)), and the designs are getting weirder and further from the workwear roots of the original brand. I used to like everything in their range and it all fitted well, but recently it's been quite hit or miss. So I thought I'd check out some US Carhartt, I got a sweatshirt that is great, but I've also had to return a t-shirt and a different jacket before because the sizing was huge. Therefore, I thought trying a different US Carhartt jacket would be a gamble based on my past experience and other reviews saying to size down. I'm only 5' 8" and 140 pounds, so sizing down is not an option. The small is definitely a loose fit as the label says, but that's not an issue for a winter jacket where you want to layer with a jumper or hoodie and maybe a scarf. The sleeves, whilst generous, are not too long (although I wouldn't want them longer) and will keep the cold out. The quality of the jacket is great and I like the classic, but updated style. I can definitely feel that this serious workwear that could be worn by a contractor in Michigan (it even has a special front pocket compartment for your carpenters pencil!), but the jacket also looks smart, so perfect for wearing on my commute or going out. The warmth level feels about right for the autumn and winter in the UK (a 3 out of 4 on Carhartt's warmth scale - bearing in mind we don't get -20℃ plus winters like the brand's main customers face!). The weight feels substantial, but not heavy or cumbersome. This jacket will replace my old Superdry jacket which was very comfortable, but was plagued by quality issues (stitching falling apart and a zip breaking). Given that this jacket is much better value than Carhartt WIP and way better quality than similarly priced Superdry (which has started a Carhartt-style 'surplus' range), I'll definitely be looking at more original Carhartt items for my wardrobe. Thanks to Amazon for making this excellent American brand more available in the Europe. As others have said, if you've been on the fence about getting a jacket from this brand, go for it, I highly recommend it - I'm so pleased with this jacket! I also hope the sizing info is useful for anyone similarly sized.
