How do you change blades? I can't figure out how to remove old one.

FIRST put the blade in the locked position so you don't cut yourself on it. Then, with your finger pressing the silver center on the side of the blade that says "Carl" and "Craft Cutter," unscrew the silver screw on the other side of the blade/blade carrier. The screw and washer will come off the thet carrier, and you can remove the blade for replacement with another.

Seller missed a major bit of information in their answer below in 2018. If you want to cut up cotton sheets or sheeting or cotton fabric this style of ROTARY PAPER or Fabric Cutter (Think Olfa, Friskers & generics here usually sold for fabric.) No matter the brand you need a cutting mat. Self healing is the best mats for this work. You'll want a the longest one you can afford. I am not sure they are made any longer but I have a 9 inch by 36 inch cutting mat from over 30 years ago that is still great. I only used one side and I've done a lot of huge projects and cut a lot of heavy duty fabrics with the Olfa cutters using it. I mean coated pack cloth fabrics and the like. I've made full XL twin water proof covers for mattresses that completely box them on all sides and zip up as replacement cushions for outdoor day bed furniture. The original cushions after about 2 years just wasn't comfortable for napping or occasional sleep over guest outside on our covered back patio. But I used the cutting mat for that along with my larger 24 x 3 foot mat but that one is not as thick still though a type of self healing fabric mat and again these were over 30 years old. For paper crafting I have smaller ones and specialized ones for using in die cut machines to save on buying cutting pads over and over. I even have a 2"x2" version and 4"x4" for doing chisel cuts like buttion hole chisels cuts and even multi size punches for leather, fabrics and yes paper too. Lots of tools but many rely heavily on having a self healing mat of some kind. As much as I love glass mats to work on with glues and inks etc. They will dull your blades and so the self healing mat is what's perfect if you want your blades to last and with this carl hand rotary paper trimmer I'd definitey invest in one or two. And you can line them up on a large work table to make longer runs for cutting up many strips of sheeting too. Or other fabric or even huge paper projects. I do not mix my blades by the way. Carl is for PAPER an this particular one is for using the fancy blades to make cute edges quick and clean with a self healing mat of course under your paper.
