Stop renting Cable modem! Works great.
Great modem and will save money over the rental from the cable company. Internet speeds were a little higher with this modem, then the one the cable company provided for a monthly fee. The worst thing was that because I also have phone service from the cable company, I had to keep the cable modem since it is also the phone modem, but they stopped charging me a monthly rental fee ($10) for it. So the only thing that changed was I stopped paying them $10 a month. It will pay for itself in less than a year. If you are renting a cable modem, buy one and keep your money instead of giving it to the cable companies! They shouldn't charge you to use it anyways. It is just another way to add money to your bill. It is easy to change out or just call your cable company and they will walk you through it. Follow the directions and keep your hard earned money.

NOT NEW / REPACKAGED
Received the product and found the manual in between the packaging. Then found the plastic for the 3ft Ethernet cable opened and looked used. When I took out the modem I found small scuff marks on the feet of the unit. I decided to plug it and try it anyways as I needed to get Internet over the weekend. So far its been holding up and I have been able to get 57MB downloads consistently. No resets or powering down needed for the past week so it seems that the Zyxel modem was re-packaged (USED). I think the seller should at least inform buyers that it is used and not NEW or repackaged. 6/29/15 (Updated Review) Just confirmed with Comcast that the prior owner had it registered. Now I have to go to Comcast to deal with the change of ownership. Dealing with the modem not going past 120mbps. 7/2/15 Had to deal with multiple calls and comcast store to indicate that the modem was purchased thru amazon and that I was the only owner of the device. Issue was handled by Advanced Activation department. Because the product (Zyxel Modem) was registered in TEXAS by another customer, the normal Comcast reps were unable to help. After several of hours of being passed along I finally got a person that can handle the issue. I indicated I came to store to show proof of purchase and the information of the modem. I now see the modem associated to my account. This would of not been an issue if the product was SOLD AS NEW and unopened. I should of returned it when I first received it. But because it worked initially, I didn't think it would bite me in the butt in the long term. I pruchased from AMAZON fullfillment so I guess it was a gamble. I am rating 1 star as it should of been the responsibility of mazon to indicate it was opened and repackaged upon purchase.

A Good Modem Marred by Poor Documentation
The modem is working well since it was installed about five days ago to replace my TWC-leased modem. My uplink and downlink speeds more than doubled, though possibly I should not be surprised given the old tech I replaced. The issue with this product is the poor setup instructions. The included "quick start" leaflet assumes you will be connecting the modem directly to a PC and provides no instructions for connecting it to a router, which is probably what most will be doing. It does not fully describe the indicator light functions so if you are lost, you will probably get no useful help from the documentation (hint: restarting your router after connecting it to the modem is the most important missing step). Finally, for TWC at least, your first online session will be directed automatically to their "activatemymodem.com" server, where you will be walked through the registration and activation steps. This is not instantaneous and even once connected the response time is slow enough that you might assume something is wrong. This step isn't explained in the documentation, either. Eventually it works, but not without some unnecessary worries created by steps that could be explained in the documentation.

Works Great With Comcast in Indianapolis
I was having issues with my 3 1/2 year old Zoom modem cutting out and losing connection, despite nearly constant resetting. Decided try the ZyXEL because the the reviews were pretty good. The ZyXEL did not auto-connect so I telephoned Comcast for connection. It took about 15 minutes from the time I plugged in the modem until Comcast had me connected for service. This was the easiest modem install I have ever worked on. Comcast was able to connect on the first try. The old Zoom took 3 reboots and troubleshooting before Comcast was able to get a signal. I waited until I had an internet connection with the new modem before I hooked up the router, so that I could troubleshoot in case of a modem problem with the initial install. My Netgear N750 and the ZyXEL communicated immediately and I had WIFI in 5 additional minutes. Just to test things, I had family members use the Internet on 2 Samsung phones, an iPhone and Toshiba laptop simultaneously, while watching Netflix. No problems and the modem remained rock solid. It is a good little modem and is doing well with Comcast in Indianapolis. I will update if needed.
