If you want to place a windows computer in a discreet area to use remotely, you can't do it without using one of these devices. It emulates a 1080p monitor so you can login via vnc / mstsc - without this you either get a blank screen, or a low resolution tht can't be adjusted.

I have a new i9 desktop machine running Windows 10, but no desk space free for another keyboard, a mouse and yet another pair of monitors. So, my solution was to park the new machine in a quiet corner of my home office and drive it from my existing i7 desktop machine using Splashtop. Unfortunately, Splashtop needs to have a monitor plugged in to the host machine, so all I could see over Splashtop was a black screen. I bought two of these headless plugs (DisplayPort), plugged them into the i9, and there we go, I can now remote into my new machine from my old one (with twin monitors, too!). The plugs let you set any screen resolution you want up to their max supported resolution, I set both of them to 1920x1200 to match my existing monitors. No fuss or faffing, just plug them in, set the screen resolution you want, and they just work.

My work station at work has 2 4:3 monitors and my home set-up are 2 16:9 wide screen ones. During lockdown, the mismatched aspect ratios of the set-ups made it very inconvenient while working via VNC remotely. These are brilliant. I got them through next day delivery and ventured into work to plug them in. In Windows 10, they are plug and play, and require no drivers. The screen 'resolution' can be set at many arbitrary configurations up to 4K. If the internet is not playing up, I can't really feel the difference between my remote desktop and the native local desktop.

Works good, they feel good quality too but they really ought to be for the price.. only chose these because they had next day delivery but was worth it

Utiliser pour faire du streaming via le logiciel Parsec et Moonlight. Si aucun écran de connecté au Pc, aucune image a streamer c’est logique. J’ai un écran 1440p en 144hz. Aucun problème. Il suffit d’ajouter la résolution voulu manuellement dans les paramètres de l’écran. (Via le panneau Nvidia dans mon cas).

Ob des günstigen Preises und negativer Erfahrungen mit anderen Dummy-Adaptern war ich skeptisch, aber der DisplayPort-Dummy funktioniert genau wie gewünscht. So kann beispielsweise ein kleines USFF-System ohne Monitor betrieben werden, auf das ich nur per Remote-Deskopt zugreife. Ohne tatsächlich angeschlossenen Monitor oder eben so einen Dummy-Adapter ist die Auflösung in Window aber immer viel zu niedrig und das System lässt sich nicht ordentlich bedienen. Mit diesem Adapter ist das kein Problem mehr und es läuft problemlos in WQHD.

I don't know if I should review this product. I bought this to work as a monitor replacement for remote solutions, like Steam Link, Parsec, it acts as a monitor if I have a real monitor plugged in, it also acts as a monitor in the sense that I can use my GPU's Nvidia panel with only it attached to it. For everything else this does not behave like a real monitor at all, I can't pick a resolution, streaming services like Moonlight with Nvidia Game Stream (sp?) gets me a blank screen unless I plug in a monitor. I must be misunderstanding something, every review seems to think this is the bees knees. I guess don't buy if this is for a headless PC streaming games to a TV. Look for something else.
