The Goddess Path: Myths, Invocations, and Rituals Review: Great Introduction - I've had this book for a while and only just recently had the time to sit down and read it. I read it from cover to cover and now all I wish was that I had read it sooner. I'm a person that needs to be eased into things. There's all these books out that just want you to jump right into "call on this Goddess for love", "call on this Goddess for protection" without giving you the necessary foundation you need to embark on the Goddess path. What I appreciate about this book the most is the level of respect that Monaghan brings to each and every Goddess in the way she speaks about them. She's really gentle and its obvious she's made every effort to maintain each myth's, each explanation of symbols', and each Goddess' history's authenticity. I like that. And no, this book is not an in-depth analyzation of each Goddess (and she even encourages readers not to end their search here but to continue on and even suggests other resources, whether it be books, places, people and of course within yourself). Its an excellent jumping off point for the reader to start getting in touch with the Goddess within and the Goddess without. Review: INCREDIBLE - This is the Goddess book that you have been looking for! Give yourself the joy of reading it and implementing what you find to be true and helpful. Approach it with an open mind. You will not be sorry! Please do consider reading this book. It's one of the books I'd like to give to everyone I know.

Great Introduction

Well Done!
Some of the reviewers found this book "too simple" with "not enough information". On the contrary, I just got it in the mail and am already enjoying it immensely. The information presented is interesting without putting the reader in TMI (too much information) overload. The calendar linking different Goddesses to different times of the year is interesting. I learned a long time ago critics are often not happy with anything. This book is worth the time and money one needs to invest in it.

Good Beginner Text for Goddess Studies
The introduction to this book is worth reading, for people who are unfamiliar with the Goddess Spirituality, and for those of us who are, it is nice to read a respected author's " take " on the experience of the divine feminine. This is not an exhaustive compendium of all the Goddesses within the spirituality; however, a number of the more familiar Goddesses are each given a chapter within the text. There are enough different Goddesses to bring an interest to the subject, and yet no so many that it becomes confusing to the beginner. As someone who has been aware of the spirituality for awhile, I enjoy having this book to cover the basics.

I came to this book as a beginner - although there were some goddesses I was aware of, I discovered this book at a time when I wanted more information. It truly has been an invaluable source for me. The book begins with a section called "The Goddess Defined" - this includes the baics of goddess spirituality, images of the goddess and ritual and the goddess. The book then looks at 20 goddesses indiviaully. Some of these will be well known to many readers - for example, Athena, Isis and Aphrodite. Others are not so well known, such as Oshun, Paivatar and Pomona. Each goddess section includes information about the myth and meaning of the goddess, the feasts of that particular goddess, along with suggestions for invoking them. Also at the end of each section, there are questions and activities for the reader to use. I would highly recommend that you make use of these questions and activities - they will help you to learn more about yourself. Overall, this is an excellent resource. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn more about Goddess spirituality.

Je lis ce livre en diagonal puisqu'après l'introduction, chaque chapitre est consacré à une déesse, selon les diverses mythologies. On apprend un tas de choses, c'est enrichissant.

The Goddess Path is a wonderful book whether you are new to the Goddess or have worked with her for a long time. Patricia Monaghan actually takes the time to talk about the basics of Goddess Spirituality, before going into detail about 20 different Goddesses from around the world. Not only does she include invocations to each Goddess, but she also discusses the myth and meaning of each one and also suggests a ritual as well among other things. Well worth the money. I can't praise it highly enough.
