DZ43102 Tailgate Assist fits 07-18 Chevy/GMC 1500 & 07-19 HD 2500/3500

Fit my 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 double cab perfectly! Took all of 15 minutes to install. Watching the online video using the tool was helpful. Pictures show blue locktight but none were in the kit. Not a big deal I always have some onhand. My truck has the internal hinge dampener but after 8 years they no longer worked. This strut afixed to the drivers side was the perfect solution. Nice and smooth drop now. You only need the one.

What a great value - this works great on my 2014 Silverado (see video), is inexpensive, & easy to install. It took me about 15 minutes & I was in no hurry. I have never used a "nutsert tool" so I followed the instructions carefully (they are very clear) & didn't have any trouble at all. I happen to have an old set of T handle Allen wrenches (the instructions recommend these) & I think this makes the installation a little easier than using just regular Allen wrenches. Really seems to be a quality product - I installed this in January of 2020 so I will update this review after it has had more use & let you know how it holds up. I wish I have bought one of these years ago so I could just "drop" my tailgate. Update: November 2021- it still works great.

Fit perfectly, easy install and works great!

Directions were straight foward, all the parts fit as they should have even the insert nut. Someone mentioned you can't set it with the tool supplied well you can and I did. He must be an engineer!! It all worked out really well and the shock worked as it should have. Now we will see how long it last's. Over all very happy with my purchase.

Outlasting the original cam design from the factory. I have bought these for my friends and family members as gifts. They love them!

I put this on a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE after spending a weekend hunting out of my buddy's 2014 Sierra with tailgate assist. We're in and out of the tailgate countless times letting the dogs out and this just makes things simpler. Once I saw the review with the video showing how quickly it drops I made the purchase. I would have given this 5 stars except that it makes some noise when the tailgate drops. When I installed it the temps were around 60. It in no way affects performance but when I called Dee Zee to ask if there was a place to oil or grease it they said it should be completely silent. They don't warranty this directly and said I needed to call Amazon for a replacement. Amazon sent me a replacement (overnight for free) and the new one does the same thing. Interestingly, the original one made no noise when I dropped the tailgate at 30 degrees but it did drop slower. Now, when I look back at the reviews I three others commenting on noise so I guess it's not truly quiet. Installation was straightforward. The reviews about the blind nut being tricky are spot on. The installation kit came with blue loctite and an FAQ about installing the nut. Mine spun when attempting install. I tried the blue loctite but wasn't patient enough to wait for the full cure. That's when I read the FAQ and the second option for a spinning nut is to put masking tape around the hole so the nut gets a better bite. I did that and it went on very quickly.

I went from a 2014 Silverado to a 2009. It was lacking the slow drop function. This is easy to install, works just like a newer truck, and allows me to drop the tailgate with one hand. No way will I live without this feature!

Great for trucks that don't come OEM with an easy drop, nice little feature to have so if you have friends with an easy drop tailgate on their truck they don't forget and just let yours slam down. Install is extremely easy and can be done in well under 10min with the proper tools (5&4 mm hex/ Allen keys, and 10&13mm wrenches). For those who are having trouble installing...read the directions again, its super simple. For the price of this kit, ease of installation, and perfect fit it's hard to beat. EDIT: had this for about a year now, I use it quite a bit. still holding up well and working. No rust on any of the hardware that was supplied. One thing I have noticed is that with temperature it has a great affect on how fast your tailgate drops. it drops very slow and soft when its below freezing, but it drops and still makes a "thud" when the temps are around 90* or above. I expect to have to replace the gas shock sometime in the future, but thats to be expected with them. My back still thanks me every time I use it!

2009 GMC 2500HD. Fit great. 5 min instal. Works nice, little kids don’t have to worry about tailgate smashing them in the head now.
