Bolstad is the Man
As a GIS technician, I still think Bolstad is the master. He really explains everything conceptually so the information sticks, and activities provided with this book are so informative. I learned more from this book and its attached activities than from anywhere else. This is a great book, and I think all colleges with GIS should teach at least one class from this book.

This book was recommended by my professor in Penn State GIS program. I like the way it's written. For a textbook this was super-affordable. Unlike some others who posted here, the choice of typeface in the graphics and captions does not bother me. Glad I picked up this text.
