Was expecting a small project... this is more than that! :)
This kit was more complicated than I was expecting. I bought primarily because my boys love robotics but also they are slightly scared of spiders and I thought this would be a great way to learn and perhaps squash their fear. Everything we needed was in the kit and the instructions were very clear for 90% of the time (trial and error for some sections). Once up and running we are able to control this from our laptop which is very cool. The control screen is written in python so you can add your own features and change the interface as you wish. On the whole this was a great purchase and would buy more of these in the future. Things I would change - the backing on the plastic parts is crazy hard to peel (My wife seemed to enjoy this so not a problem for me) - The instructions could be a little clearer in certain sections - I think a follow on guide which takes you through adding more features should be included. For example, Would be good to provide a guide on how to add a series of commands and then create a button on the control page to execute. - Camera is the picam 1. I think this unit would benefit on better optics for object recognition. I am comfortable with python so was happy to jump in... might be difficult for no-coders Great little bot and my boys love it so win for me. They named it Spike the spider :)

Poor instructions and necessary batteries are impossible to find
I bought this for a fun project to do during lockdown. My partner and I both code and it looked like a fun start to robotics. First, the instructions are very poorly written and in fact the old instructions were replaced on the website with new ones that were even more opaque. So don't give this to anyone under say, 16. And make sure you're prepared to work out the wifi connections with a network finding tool as well. But it's built now, and we find that it's completely unclear what batteries will work with this. My partner buys one set based on the specs described in the instructions. They don't fit. There's nothing in the Amazon listing suggesting what we should buy. He's found a set that may be the right batteries, it's unclear, but they are £30 for a pair so if he's wrong we've got an expensive and useless set of batteries. Why it couldn't have come with a rechargeable battery pack given the special requirements is a mystery. We've now tried to use the USB to power it as you're supposed to be able to. Turns out, it needs more voltage than standard USB plugs provide. None of the many we have in the house will work. The thing just keeps cycling. So at this point, it's an expensive model sitting on a shelf. Disappointing to say the least.

good fun
My order came with 2x 18650 batteries so no need to provide your own (i have a load already from dismantling old laptop batteries). assembly was ok if you are used to lego. the initial positioning of the servo motor arms is important if you want it to walk right, but you can loosen the scews and detach the servo arms (that link to the legs) to correct this. The software was fairly easy to set up, but I have experience with RPi tinkering. I want to use this to learn Python. I'd love to make one of those walking flowerpots or a walking security camera! the sero control board has space to add more servos, and sensors such as a depth sensor.

Great but does not work
The supplied code and instructions don't work and we still have not had a response from the company i built it with my son but we could never get the code to work so it's a good doorstop now

Quality bit of kit, loads of fun, says no batteries but I got some.
Love this product, got it as a Christmas present, fun to build and great fun to play with. I managed to add a night vision camera very easily. This was my first attempt at one of these kits and I highly recommend it, will definitely be trying some of the others. It says it comes without batteries but I got some in with it after buying some separate, not really a problem but could save someone a few quid although I can't say if they all have batteries in 🤔

Miss Print - Updated
It seems after removing all the sticky packaging and checking to see if i have all the parts but it seems that the legs have been miss cut as i have 5 legs without servo holes and 3 with holes. After speaking with the company it was decided they would send me a new one out due to the missing parts. I have now got all the parts i need and changed my rating to 5 stars.

Unfortunately the robot needs programming and a mother board as well
