RØDE DeadCat VMPR Windshield for VideoMic Pro Artificial Fur Wind Shield Furry Cover

No cats were harmed in this making, Im pretty sure. It gets the job done, really does a great job on cutting wind in recordings. It fits really snugly and not the easiest to put on and off but that kind of makes sense so it blocks out the wind. It's well made, good stitching and none of the "fur" has been falling out or anything like that. Check out my photos for a closer look and I hope this was helpful.

This dead cat fits Rode Video Mic Pro Plus very well as expected. Moderate wind noise was dampened. As a first time dead cat buyer, it wasn’t very clear as to how to out the product onto the mic. It was an easy look up on the Internet, but I wish Rode had included a simple diagram in the package. Quality of the material seems fine so far. Very little hair has fallen off.

Amazon has bundled reviews and answers together for the videomic deadcats. Heres what I've found. There are 2 versions of the VideoMic Pro; the original (with rubber bands) and the Rycote system (hence VideoMic Pro R). The rycote is the ones with the u-shaped rubber cradle setup. The deadcat for the original VMP will very snuggly fit over the VMP-R, but it distorts the stock foam and doesn't reach all the way to the back of the mic (about an inch short). The VMP-R deadcat slides over the updated mic easily and goes all the way back, there is no real pressure on the stock foam. Hope this helps someone.

Given the name "DeadCat", rather than doing a "Cat Scan", I did a "Dog Scan". Yep, would like to confirm that dog did turn his hose up at the DeadCat. So that test passed with nasal flying colors and appropriate sneezing. From a usability perspective, the film student this was bought for approved it for use, cuts down dramatically on wind noise, etc. So - Good job.

I don't know why they charge for this, when it is included on the smaller Mic Rode offers. This is something that should be included with any mic that you buy; especially an expensive one like the Rode Mic Pro. That being said, it does do what it claims which is cuts the wind static. Would I buy it again? Yes, only because I have to.

The quality of the wind shield seems good, but I was struck at how awkward the fit was for an OEM accessory. I actually had to look up a YouTube video to ensure I was doing it right, and even then you have to open the back in order to turn the Mic on or off. Not an ideal design. I'll keep it, but it's quite possible that there is a third-party solution that is a better fit for the VideoMic Pro

Works great, as we tend to record lots of live footage and been very useful while working outside canceling out the wind. Thank again for your services!

Super dead cat pour le Rode pro ! il faut forcer un peu pour le monter au départ sur le micro mais apres ça va . Le scratch arrière me parai léger pour une bonne tenue dans le temps, mais on verra à l'usage ...

Zum Glück keine echte Katze und vom Fell her erinnert es auch eher an Kaninchen! Funktioniert top. Wurde in den letzten Monaten ausgiebig benutzt... bei Wind und Wetter. Ton war gut. Wer sich das VideoMic Pro ordert, sollte den Windschutz gleich mit in den Warenkorb legen. Einzig, es läßt sich nicht zu leicht auf- und abziehen, bzw. muß man zum "Fell abziehen" etwas mehr Zeit einplanen um das Micro nicht zu sehr zu beanspruchen. Könnte geschmeidiger sein, hat mich aber nicht gestört.

Protege contra el viento , aunque no hace milagros. Es de buena calidad, encaja muy bien en el videomic pro. Lo aconsejo a todos.
