SinLoon 2.5" IDE 44-Pin Female to SATA Male Adapter works great
I purchased the SinLoon 2.5" IDE 44-Pin Female to SATA Male Adapter to connect four old laptop computer hard drives to a SATA port on my Desktop (Windows 11) computer. It worked great - I was able to take a look at three of the HDDs and copy a number of folders to my Desktop. The forth HDD was damaged and wouldn't spin up. The SinLoon product worked great.

Doesn't fit in its stated application
The good news is this adapter FUNCTIONS fine as an IDE to SATA adapter. The bad news is that it does not physically FIT in applications that it is claimed to be for. Three main reasons: First, most 2.5" SATA drive bays don't have the internal length to accommodate the length of an IDE drive PLUS the thickness of the adapter. Second, the width of the adapter's PCB and the offset of the IDE versus SATA connectors make the adapter too tall to fit into a bay intended for a 2.5" SATA disk drive - so it couldn't be useful for permanently installing a 2.5" IDE drive into a 2.5" SATA bay. Finally, the adapter's SATA connector is oriented such that its PCB prevents it from mating with the SATA connector in a standard drive bay. (The SATA connector on the adapter is effectively upside down compared to the SATA connector in the drive bay). Another potential problem was the adapter cannot fully seat on the IDE connector of the WD HDD that I used it with, because components on the adapter's PCB collide with the outer edges of the case of the HDD. The connection can be made, but because it can't seat fully, it is loose and might not be reliable. (This issue MAY not exist for other types/brands of IDE HDDs). Anyway, I'm left wondering just what replacement application(s) this adapter can work for. In my case, I needed only a temporary connection so I was able to use the adapter OUTSIDE OF the drive bay - but only by removing the bay's housing so that the adapter could physically mate with the bay's SATA connector. Once installed that way, it did function... but I can't imagine any way that it could be useful to install an IDE drive into a SATA drive bay. It physically would not fit.

Doesn't fit normal IDE slot
The IDE side of this board is much too small to fit a standard 40 pin IDE drive. Misses the last 4 pins no matter how you try to install. Cheaply made and shouldn't be sold.

works with PATA 2.5 inch hard drives
There is a small issue with the PATA to SATA adapter not engaging fully with the 2.5 inch hard drives PATA connection pins. With the help of some tape to hold the adapter in place, I was able to use the adapter to copy files off the PATA hard drive. If your PATA hard drive has shorter pins, you may need a short 44 pin male to female ribbon cable.

Works fine
Not sure why people think you can install this in their laptops, that's not what it's intended purpose is. Works just fine for what I used it for, a temporary hard drive reader until I got an external reader. IDE is an old form factor, nobody uses them anymore.
