I am very happy with my purchase of this tripod. It is well built and should last many lifetimes. I have used it with a Lodge 4 quart, Coleman 7.5 quart, and Lodge 10 quart dutch ovens. I also put a Grillmark Chrome Cooking Grate 25" on four chains connected to a 1.5" ring to cook hotdogs and hamburgers on. I will upload a photo. I found it to be too short for the 25" cooking grate without digging a hole for the fire or just using coals to cook over. It works well for cooking over wheel rims or sunken fire pits where the flames are lower than a typical campfire. I have purchased a Lodge 5TP2 Tall Boy tripod for almost twice as much as I paid for this one. It gives me more height to adjust how much heat gets to the food while it is still centered over the fire. With this tripod, I have found that in order to simmer some soup and still have a decent size campfire I need to offset the tripod to the side of the fire. It is a great tripod and I am happy with my purchase, however, I always go for the taller tripod first for a campfire and this one if I am cooking over the firepit. I hope this helps.

I bought this tripod a while ago on a whim. I actually ended up needing it and it worked very well. I need to have more on hand. Great for camping. Doesn’t rust, very sturdy and durable. They did not use cheap materials on this tripod!

I bought an iron kettle on Amazon and used this with it. Worked great! We had a back yard camp out and cooked over a fire!

I thought about making my own tripod; after all, it's just some bent steel and a bit of chain. I bought this one from Stansport because I probably would have spent more to go out and buy the metal than I did to get this tripod ready-made. This is the taller size of tripod, so it works well with the campground fire rings and whatever else I might need to cook over. Assembly and setup are a cinch - which is good, because there are no instructions. One of the best features is that this lets me cook over either coals or flames, because I can adjust how close the dutch oven is held above the heat. The tripod also makes it easier to rotate my dutch oven for even cooking, because with the Dutch oven suspended above the coals, I don't need to worry about whether the oven's legs are going to fit nicely between the coals or get caught on something when I go to set it back down after rotating it.
