I had the older v1 version of this product that only worked on 2.4Ghz. The new version functions very well and casts better picture quality with only minor sporadic packet loss. It's a good upgrade if you know what you are doing. FYI you do not need the app at all.

We purchased this because the Funimation app mysteriously disappeared on my Xbox 360, and I'm unable to find it again to redownload it (maybe no longer supported, IDK). We're through all the English dubbed Anime we can find on Hulu, Netflix, Crunchyroll, and our regular TV service provider, and we didn't want to have to hook up the laptop via HDMI cable every time we wanted to watch something on Funimation, so we found this thing to mirror/cast from my phone. Works exactly like we thought it would, no complaints at all! Picture and video quality is obviously going to depend on the kind of quality you have on your phone (like, if you have a poor or slow connection on your phone, then your image is going to be worse, because this gadget literally HDMIs whatever is on your phone screen), but if you've got a good (strong/fast) connection on your phone and your streaming quality is high on your phone screen, you're going to see the same quality images on your TV.

I only bought this so I could stream Youtube TV to a Smart TV that doesn't have the Youtube TV app. I connected it and set it up exactly how the manual states. The manual states if you have an iOS device you don't need to download the EZ Cast app. I found that to be not true. I needed to download the app on my iPhone. When I got it all set up, I first tried to send a video in my camera roll to the TV. That DID work. When I tried to play a show from the Youtube TV app, only the audio of the TV show was being streamed to the TV. The video never showed up. I am planning to troubleshoot the issue but for now I am rating this 1 star. I even watched the Youtube video showing how to set up the EZ Cast 2 and had mine set up the exact same way and I could not get Youtube TV to stream on my TV.

Not the best I've had but also not the worst, was a pain to set up originally because it just wouldn't show up on my TV, worked fine on my roommates TV... just not mine, video quality was kinda poor would have some parts of the screen freeze at times, might've been a wifi error, might not have. Worked great for PowerPoint Presentations, but that's about it in my opinion.

My husband bought this to use with some tech-ie equipment for the church building and it did whatever the guys needed it to do....

So, setting up this device was not straight forward. I sent email to seller and all they replied after four days was to use external USB charger… what a joke.. Note for seller is, they should come up with more technical troubleshooting steps rather than replying to verify basic/common sense things. The way I was able to set it up through my Iphone was I first downloaded their software, and most important step was to NOT connect the dongle to tv hdmi port. Only power on the dongle and leave it without connecting to TV. The moment I turned on without TV, its wifi ssid showed on my iphone. And then I just followed the steps shown on my phone. And it was ready to be used. After that I hooked it to the tv hdmi port, it does started showing SSID name and password along with QR code. In order to use it without wifi in car, first I have to connect to dongle wifi, and then only way to run youtube videos on screen was through iphone screen mirroring. You have to screen mirror first and then open youtube and play the videos.. youtube casting only works, if you are connected to home wifi.

Too cumbersome to connect to power source

I added this to the TV at church. The TV already was a smart TV, so I did not configure any of the streaming or add it to the WIFI. The TV had an open HTMI and USB port. It was as simple as plugging it in to the two ports. I did not change its name or anything, it just works!

J'ai acheté un écran portable de 15 pouces que j'emporte dans mon sac. J'utilise ce dongle pour afficher le contenu de mon smartphone sur cet écran (car la prise USB-C de mon téléphone ne supporte pas le partage d'écran même avec un dongle adapté ; à mes souvenirs il faut de l'USB-C 3.0 ou 3.1 pour pouvoir brancher un écran directement sur le smartphone, et le mien est en 2.0). Ça fonctionne très bien, et la résolution est correcte. Et depuis mon portable, j'utilise l'application Steam Link (ou tout autre appareil de contrôle à distance depuis le portable) pour contrôler mon ordinateur à distance. Et en utilisant un dongle pour contrôler le portable à l'aide d'un clavier et une souris, ça me permet d'avoir mon ordinateur fixe où que j'aille. Conseil : vérifiez le mode de connexion entre le dongle et votre appareil depuis l'application dédiée. J'avais connecté le dongle au réseau Wi-Fi local, mais la connexion se faisait à travers Internet, ce qui causait des latences et des coupures plus fréquentes à l'affichage. En vérifiant dans les options de l'application, j'ai pu activer une option qui permet de passer directement par le réseau local, dans la mesure où le dongle et le portable étaient connectés sur le même réseau par Wi-Fi

Very simple to use and has better extended desktop capabilities than I imagine.

Había probado aparatos similares y o no funcionaban o costaba configurarlos. En este caso, el dispositivo funciona sin necesidad de hacer nada más que enchufarlo. Lo he probado con una tablet Huawei y con dispositivos iOS.
